kids call it a bass continuum now, I would not expect the dissensus lot to discuss bastard brostep offspringThose battles might have been useful at the time but I mean the hardcore continuum as originally theorised hasn't been relevant for 15 years now, which is why I want to reorient to a hardcore eclecticism outlook.
As far as I could tell after dubstep, wonky, funky, it all became something literally referred to as "bass music" which meant effectively the tyranny of 130, any old shit as long as it had a loud bassline. I went and lost myself in fields of literature.
I went to an Andy Weatherall thing at Morley up North once, 97 I think. Actually I went with some mates rather than by choice, and it was all slamming techno and industrial-sounding house with ice blue strobes incessantly flashing.
It was arresting and impressive for about 20 minutes but then, yes, it was just a horrible slog. Just horrendous, pounding, miserable. That's ok though, it was when it got tedious that I passed final judgement on the spectacle. No thanks. I'm outta here!
this doesn't make sense in the UK as I said because those most dedicated to the early hard acid and hoover brain bashing mentalism went down the landstrumm/subhead root, well into the 00s. the people who were more about some perceived idea of jazz-soul followed people like mr. c (seriously i should have been around to blow that cunts head off in 95) into the gloopy tech house.maybe it was different in germany/denmark I dunno.
gilles peterson cannot touch hieroglyphic being this is cultural appropriation we must raise hell on dissensus for this crime. england will have to pay dearly will spare none of its women and children.
anyway, hieroglyphic being: proper dirty chi-town techno.
poor corpse surrounded by sweaty monobrowed men, forcing him to eat a goats hoof covered in flies. all of them smiling at him with complete central asian indifference to his squeemishness. men kissing each other but in a 'local custom' kind of way. all of which happening under strip lighting in a rented school sports hall.
