the counter argument is that the rich are rich becasue their income is generated from the spending of the poor so they cant shut down economies like that. i dont know. i do know consumer spending is less important to the economy than it used to be and that fact alone has serious implications

Sorry three posts in a row. China was extremely oppressive when i was there but you could still hop around without any real visa and buy weed off old men in the street so im not sure its really that conniving or controlling as such. They are just good at digital surveillance and did well to con everyone to put their money into state-led apps
