Not to directly compare them but it's funny how one of if not the biggest street rappers from the UK is Giggs, with his deadpan humour and nasal voice

That compared to UK drill it was like wide-screen, more vivid

Also interesting to compare with the dominant rap sound for years, trap - not the waka flocka style of trap, the Migos, future, young thug, lil baby etc etc trap. Melodic, woozy, promethazine

One thing I like about it is how new York it feels-- the new York of 90s rap, the pressure cooker feel, probably more wu tang (or onyx) than mobb deep

The rappers aren't painting vivid pictures like those 90s ones do, but would the tempo even allow for that?

Mind you some of it does remind me of mobb deep

Kind of what I meant with al kinds of cheesy stuff being sucked into its tapestry and yet still sounding great, because of how cool and futuristic the temporal distortions, slofast time warp sounds are, like hardcore and jungle did

Definitely get a jungle/hardcore feeling of sorts, a maelstrom of intensity, samples fed into the mad mincing machine

This is an interesting comparison - its essentially the same tune made by different producers and with different rappers on UK sand US side

The UK version, SL x Millionz has a touch more melancholy and is rave inflected with the gender bending pitch shifts. The song overall feels quieter, more subtly mixed and slightly veiled

The US version has a touch of reverb and slight distortion on the kicks which gives them a bigger more menacing feel, in the mid range. its music to blast out of massive american cars. Its bombastic. Sha Ek would shoot you in a drive-by along gridded streets, screeching wheels, him screaming out the window like a maniac leaving a plume of smoke.

Skinny SL the school bully would be making snide comments as he steps around you, pulling a wee knife out of his puffa and gliding it along your stomach to spill your guts while he disappears up a curved alley, sniggering
