been collecting that early Final Cut stuff for a year or so now. You cannot beat Mateo + Matos in that early "couple machines and a sampler" and shitty pressings era. Sounds like they were figuring it out as they went, both sonically and in terms of putting records out* and they're so good for it. I feel like Mateo and Matos went a little too King Street/Soulful as the 90s went on, at least for my taste.
*this trajectory (the shittiest record pressings, very simple and lo-fi production, and a shitload of aliases) is virtually identical to the Murk early years.
