As a party, yes, but there is no http://www.isjohnmajordeadyet.com/ website like there was for Thatcher.
I think that we are all talking at cross-purposes here... some of you are talking about the Major government in the 90s, some are talking about the Tories over the last fourteen years or so.
For me... the Major government was a disaster, they had been in power too long, had all those power struggles and scandals and so on and they were coming up with stuff like the "cones hotline" cos they were just desperate for something crowd-pleasing. By the end they were fucking hated as a whole even if no-one really could get that worked up about Major himself (except maybe Edwina Curry).
The recent Tory government by the end was pretty similar but maybe even worse, for the last few years (not even months, years) they were just careering randomly around picking new leaders every week and with no policies except for lying as much as possible, stabbing each other in the back and desperately claiming that Labour would somehow be even worse. Weirdly Johnson was both loved and hated and... well Sunak no-one really cared about but by the end the whole boiling was truly and rightly despised.
Now Labour which haven't really been great but of course they haven't had the chance to reach the spectacular failures of the above two regimes. I'll say that they have come out of the traps pretty fast though with a good few scandals and cock-ups which suggest they may challenge them if they can stay in power long enough. But yet people do absolutely hate Starmer beyond all reason.
Re the similarities between Major and Starmer though, it's a mistake to think that cos Starmer is more despised than Major ever was it means that they aren't similar kinds of politician, and I think they probably are closer to each other than... I dunno, Brown and Blair or BoJo and the Lettuce despite they are on different sides of the aisle so I still think that was a perceptive comment.
