Its ok, Real Rap shows are still around.sounds like the worst thing ever
it's tired but if it ain't broke don't fix it,i think he didn't have all that it would've been a much drier and more difficult experience what with how dense his music tends to bekendrick was v good. brought sadlers wells to glasto. shame he did that old rap gig cliche of dividing the audience up to see which side was the best etc, but other than that, it was kind of unlike most rap shows ive ever seen, except maybe the time kanye headlined glasto. but then ive not been to a big rap show in years so who knows. is interesting to see him bring that whole theatrical, choreographed/contemporary dance-influenced approach to live hip hop, as well as the fact he keeps his ultra serious, composed presence the whole time. appreciated the fact he did something interesting with a band in terms of the arrangements too.
i put the issue with not hearing the words quite well down to engineers who might not be used to mixing or working with rappers so they don't have the understanding that they have different sonic requirements and priorities compared to a rock band also i don't think you're sexist Glastonbury has always had a peculiar relationship with rap ontop of the overall relationship between Britian and the US as far as rap and the culture of it.i was surprised how many ppl were rapping along in the audience (also, and feel free to call me sexist, how many women were rapping along).
i think the show was enough of a spectacle to give you something to look at but not so distracting that it took away from kendrick.
at home it sounded great (i loved the slightly diff arrangements, they were pretty subtle and clever), idk how it would have sounded being there, i.e the prob i have with a lot of live rap, is you cant hear the words that well, which is esp important for someone like kendrick. also surprised, and idk why actually, how many 'hits' he has.
for that, i think DAMN has more highpoints (any album with DNA and humble is going to be hard to top) even if its not as strong an 'album' (but id prefer just to hear a great set of songs from him than another big arching concept personally). still not heard the new one but that first single sounded like a bit of a mess.
it was genuinely one of the best things i've ever seen. sleep deprivation and being with a class group of people might have helped a lot but i found it euphoric and meaningfuli put the issue with not hearing the words quite well down to engineers who might not be used to mixing or working with rappers so they don't have the understanding that they have different sonic requirements and priorities compared to a rock band also i don't think you're sexist Glastonbury has always had a peculiar relationship with rap ontop of the overall relationship between Britian and the US as far as rap and the culture of it.
i'm surprised to hear that you root for DAMN cause yeah alot of people feel like that's a weaker effort from him
if @shakahislop is awake i'd be interested to know what he thought of it since he's down there(and that is if he even went to go see Kendrick and not putz about with something else)
well glad to hear that you had a great timeit was genuinely one of the best things i've ever seen. sleep deprivation and being with a class group of people might have helped a lot but i found it euphoric and meaningful
not a neg i genuinly can see you and Corpsey being into Babytron of all the rappers out of Michigan currently goingi'm pretty sure you just negged me but it's slightly too subtle to know for sure
