Country dwelling is all about sense of place, you've got to get situated .

The city you can stay surface because there's so much. But a country diet has to go deep.

Have you tried sitting still for an hour? Crowley says you've got to learn magical self control before you can magically control others.

Have you tried sitting for an hour watching the way the sunbeams filter in through a kitchen window?

Country living to a city slicker can see a bit like the old joke about cafeteria food. "The food here is lousy! And what small portions!"

But you have to alter your orientation to time. Rhythm and seasonality are everything. Beauty is in the compound portrait. The hours slow down and the days speed by.

I've been reading The Beckett Country which is a photobook of Samuel's Dublin but the chapter on the hamlet he grew up in is lovely. You get a photograph of the whiskered timekeeping stationmaster, Farrell of Foxtrot, and a description of the farm sounds—cocks and crows and pigs and cows.

@Corpsey have you tried exploring. Learning the history of the place. Understanding how it fits together in a way that defied you as a kid
It's been around since the Domesday book

The thing is in its modern form it's a nowhere place really

Somewhere people drive back to from work

Two or three pubs (there used to be five or six), some shitty shops, a crap coffee place

Everyone's either old or children
