when we were in high school, though, we called an ounce of weed a lid. instead of buying some loosies, we'd chip in and cop a lid.

It seems that the money that Trump raises for his defence fund will mainly be used to pay off debts already incurred... grifters gotta grift.
Starting early Wednesday, the campaign and the Republican National Committee have been sending dozens of daily text messages and emails saying they need financial support to challenge voting procedures.
“We must PROTECT the Election!” says one campaign text Friday signed by Mr. Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. “My father’s calling on YOU to help bolster our critical Election Defense Fund.”
Clicking through to the donation page, potential givers can review a disclaimer that 50% of any contribution will be used for general election campaign debt retirement and 50% for the campaign’s recount account.
Other Trump fundraising pitches in recent days ask for help to “protect the integrity of this election” but lead to a donation page for Mr. Trump’s “Make America Great Again” committee. The fine print on those solicitations says 60% of a contribution helps the campaign retire debt and 40% goes to the Republican National Committee.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the financing structure for the defense fund, and how much debt the campaign is facing.

Shameless yet again (the info is from the Wall Street Journal but I can't link to it for some reason).

But the more I read the less it seems there is any hope for Trump. I keep reading that Trump has no strategy beyond "supreme court will wok it out for me" and his aides can't tell him that's bollocks. You've got Ronna McDaniel on Fox saying "We know there was fraud" and when pressed for evidence saying "You have to give us time to find it" - it's humiliating, they really seem to have nothing, less than I ever expected, if it carries on like this they are going to fail to delay things by one day.

Law suits update
- In PA a judge rejected Republican attempts to cease counting ballots received after 3rd November, but said they must separate them... as they were already doing. GOP are spinning this as a big win.
- In Nevada a Federal Court REJECTS Republican lawsuit to halt Nevada vote counting or alter rules for signature matching or observation!

In fact four other WH staffers have tested positive and they have been trying to keep it secret.
Things collapse slowly... and then all at once.

This is the thing, the Republicans actually did well below the presidential level. Biden will go into this term as a weak president. The only thing they get out of Stopping the Steal is propping up the personality cult and private interests of Trump and his family. This is why it is so fascinating to watch which way the elected Republicans go, because this is a success for conservatives as a whole and a disaster for Trump alone.
