I'm not a Nolan fan, but that is due to that three hour perfume ad he did that was disguised as an uncharismatic twitch streamer's play through.
I wanted to leave the cinema within 5 minutes of the film starting but my mother had paid for the luxury seats so I felt obliged to sit through that nonsense.

But, I did enjoy the The Prestige - it featured some things I enjoy.

I'm nonplussed about the announcement about The Odyssey, although I would be really excited if it was based on the Simon Raven novel, Come Like Shadows, which is about a Dino De Laurentiis style adaptation of the Homer classic filmed on location in Corfu which results in the consultant having sex with the starlet "Sasha Grimes" and causing a heart attack to a body positive voyeur and him being imprisioned by a rogue CIA agent - the novel is a hilarious send up of the "carry on" and "James Bond" franchises - I'd love to see a ALMS FOR OBLIVION franchise, but it will never happen

Glad you still loving that Will..., it really did have something that I loved and I didn't think anyone else would feel in the same way,

it maybe the masterpiece of the 20th century but snowflakes and strawberries* won't 'allow it"

* strawberries is what the Chinese diaspora call the coddled in cotton wool kids who are "soft" and who get upset about anything and everything

but yeah, I feel that an adaptation of Come Like Shadows would be one of the best ways to tackle The Odyssey

it would be like that awful French film, " Day for Night" (?) but actually good

sort of META META META

Nolan loves that shit?

imagine: as an auteur Nolan could rail against the coke bloated sweaty producers who think they know best, all disguised as Simon Raven's characters!

Nolan too dumb now he's blasted his braincells away with special fx, not to say that I don't enjoy some of his stuff but I don't think he can go back to the small movies he did so well that allowed him to become the massive brontosaur he's become.

one of the downsides of flying to Japan from Manchester, UK is that you have to fly Finnair and they love foisting their blueberry juice on you

I politely refuse and ask for "water" instead

best thing about Finnair is they will dump you in Helsinki airport for a connection and they have a MOOMIN themed cafe there

I fucking love the Moomins, especially the weird 80s TV adaptation with the odd soundtrack

Graeme Miller - the Moomins Theme

edit: obviously I went to the opening week of the Moomin theme park outside of Tokyo, I might have some story or photo

this was the inside of one of the Moomin adjacent character's houses:

under the SKYTREE in Asakusa there was a MOOMIN cafe where I ordered this HATTIFATTENER drink

( the cafe no longer exists, long gone )

edit: I might have been photographed being hugged by the "sniff" mascot in Moomin Valley park
I ended buying a Little My suitcase in the Moomin cafe under the sky tree, it is sort of inevitable that you end up buying an extra suitcase in Japan because , if you are a tourist like me, you will buy more than you imagined

may not count for much, but put me down as another that quite liked it, and I'll happily still rewatch it every now and then.

"how can he not know!"

sorry, couldn't resist

but yeah, I was derailing the thread by talking about something tangential

I might have done that on a couple of other topics too today

that phrase being said about me, but in all seriousness, I feel like it could be the story of my life, man - story of my life :( 😄

sorry, but I mean no harm

I only want to radiate love, but with a bit of banter, I'm not a crystal energy dude
