Lo fi house

Not another house thread you might say, but I know nothing about house music.

I know what I like though, and quite often get drawn to 'lofi' house music of various sorts.

Stephan Laubner is one of my favourite producers but he seems to not get many listens on youtube if that's any judge of his popularity.

Heard this today.

It's almost like a modern day 'Computer Madness' in style? I like him sonically and wondering if there's swathes of this stuff out there that I have just missed out on.

Be kind if you could fill me in.

There's a few other's that have been on FXHE but for new stuff I don't know much more than say Rick Wilhite.

I like stl's stuff. Seems genuinely grotty and awkward whereas a lot of the phonica crowd lo-fi house stuff seems like playacting. Pretending theyre putting out "hardware jams" in Chicago in 1987 but they're just a bunch of graphic designers from Peckham

yeah, DJ Seinfeld and that whole crew.

doesn't get a lot lower-fi than Theo Parrish, love the guy but even I wonder what the hell he's doing sometimes.

Time allowances mean I haven’t had been exposed to too much tagged as “Lofi“. Until tonight. Rougher cuts? This shouldn’t work but it thumps

After 30mins in Discogs it’s clear DJ Boredomhangthecuntbyhisbollocks can’t nail this degree of groove

STL is a rare bird. Not so much a fan of the dubbier, Deepchord-esque range put out. Other areas are much more musically interesting and ear wormy, eg

needs a micro-tempo boost

contradictory statement re-dubby

and again, "they do more" is the point

for the tits

5am and i'm up at 6:30

not an aesthetic that has much left to say as time goes by, people dolling out formula left and right, so a fresh take like STL's angular off-scale shuffles lean to the law of diminishing returns

I dunno if this is lofi house but I assume this guy is related somehow to the equally badly named DJ Seinfeld.

Found this on the Rinse playlist yesterday and I actually think it bangs

Love STL, a real auteur. I think he's old, not on any social media stuff or anything like that. Proper German techskepticism.

Bought lots of this back when it broke (10 years ago almost?), some still holds up.

My favorite is Huerco S; maybe not really house, but proper scuffy moody lofi vibes:
