i agree to some degree but I don't think that you can seperate it like that and give primacy to some immediate independent intuitive faculty eg. "what you think." i think whatever that immediate opinion means, it's also informed by the conceptual stuff attached to it. I think you experience those things simultaneously whole thing as a package (of course depending on what conceptual communication your existing knowledge intuits)If you think Burial's music is boring, all that conceptual stuff around it will just make you roll your eyes. It's a ploy.
If you think Burial's music is beautiful, the conceptual stuff will only deepen that sense. It's a key.
But what if I said you only like grime cos you're an East London patriot who wants to believe the best music in the world comes from there?i dunno why shiels doesnt just say 'i like sophie becasue i want to have sex with art school girls that are out of my league'. usually hes the person calling for more honesty.
when bipp came out i had no idea who sophie was, it sounded mental and gross and thrillingIt worked on a visceral level as music with catchy melodies, thrilling textures and rhythms, etc.
i transcend the league system. sigma male matei dunno why shiels doesnt just say 'i like sophie becasue i want to have sex with art school girls that are out of my league'. usually hes the person calling for more honesty.
thats obviously a large part of the reason i was always explicit about that. But what if I said you only like grime cos you're an East London patriot who wants to believe the best music in the world comes from there?

I dunno, I enjoy reading the ideas behind music I can't stand... sometimes I read about sports I hate, maybe I'm weird. If you think Burial's music is boring, all that conceptual stuff around it will just make you roll your eyes. It's a ploy.
