i read through this thread and go, wow, such lively fizzing minds and all here to learn from me, their big inspiration and role model. i couldnt be prouder.

i listened to the stuff @wektor posted

i like ena, i'm surprised this kind of stuff is (still?) being made in a way 'cos it's so niche. but interesting textures even though some of the tracks don't go anywhere.

the other guy sounds a bit cack-handed to me though, random bits of dub effects whacked on slap-dash. if i made that kick drum i'd start again.

gonna go back and read this whole thread now and who knows, even listen to the clips

historical note team doyobi (as featured in my still incomplete 100 tracks thread) were on a label called Skam from manchester most of their acts were into mixing the autechre IDM sounds with a more straight up old skool electro vibe. which is what that justin maxwell does exactly.

Yep, precisely. I have even grown to love the term idm, not as intelligent dance music but as its own word. pronounced 'ihdm' much better than deconstructed club or electronica.

some of his tunes do have a nice sturdy sound design to them, I like his catchier breakbeat tunes but the ones that are supposed to freak out the dancefloor or whatever come nowhere close to the shock of flashcore quality

I'm guessing this is a try to bite on a little bit of acid flavour?
it's kind of interesting how dissonant it is, even in the lows, yet it does bounce

They are shit too! dance music is once again in a rut. There's too much of it, we need a moritorium, go full taliban, ban everyone from making dance music for 10 years and all dance music djs and journalists are only allowed to dig for old stuff. then they can start messing around. The more you know, the more rules you can break effectively.

so we are approaching that time of going back to guitar music huh?
seems like we are on the track with lots of so called alternative electronic music producers starting songwriting projects, which has been a trend for a while now
