It's a Pet Shop Boys song, you massive homophobe.

how odd that you're playing the oppression olympics you so lambaste, because evidently this was your only paltry comeback. ironic that you posted the cissexist heteronormative version. Poor baroque archival skills, in general. Too much jennuflection to the insipid diarrhetic cult of genius. not what @craner was hoping for, if I'm being honest. will you be apologising to him?

By the way, Pet Shop Boys wouldn't exist had it not been for a bit of heteronormativity.

there was a time when all right thinking members of dissensus such as @Corpsey and @Benny Bunter mocked me for saying that the dna of UK funky can be found in 96 techstep.

But I will prove them wrong, and make minse meat out of their abject goldsmiths dissertations.

it really is there but I feel it would better with good quality phase vocoder stretching + transient detection

I'd heard of "STUDIO 54" - who hasn't? Bianca Jagger riding a white horse through the dancefloor while Andy W sucked off Lou in the VIP room?

but STUDIO 57?

I bought this dubbel LP for 10p from the legendary YANKS Mafia cutout tax fiddle emporium in Manchester decades ago

no one I knew liked it even though the snares hit hard and the cowbell presets clang

I feel like HI-NRG is a forgotten genre that has been written out of history even though it contributed to the PROTO 'NUUM, but that's probably the fault of Sinitta ( I'm not even going to explain that )

BOBBY O - I'M SO HOT FOR YOU

for some reason I dug this dubbel LP off the shelves tonight and suddenly according to the YouTube comments it appears this is a hit with the kids due to something called ERIC on NETFLIX

am I validated / vindicated decades later?

I have no idea what ERIC is - is it worth a watch?

but I'm getting strong ripping off the league unlimited orchestra vibes...

LEAGUE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA - DON'T YOU WANT ME

AND... now I'm listening to the LEAGUE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA LP in its entirety

AND

THIS MIGHT BE MY REAL TUNE OF THE DAY!

DO OR DIE!

fucking huge! drum machines with "latin" presets fed through digital delays! psycho panning! reverb! one finger runs on out of tune synths! off key female vocals! everything I love!

I used to trip so hard to the LEAGUE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA LP, I'm not sure it has gained the LEGENDARY status it is entitled to, it was so far ahead of its time! THIS WAS THE BIRTH OF "REMIX" CULTURE IN THE UK! #ACID_DREAMS. yawn did I ever mention about my mate's dad having a freezer full of confiscated Operation Julie microdots yawn he runs a fish and chip shop now true stories

in the early 1980s Thatcher era Britain there was a media driven phenomenon known as VIDEO NASTIES and one of the films we were not allowed to see was Nightmares in a Damaged Brain but I have saved you the trouble of watching it by just posting random thoughts on early 80s cutting edge electronic dance music

Common - Resurrection (1994)

Hot damn Common was skating on this. Sometimes the lyrics are nonsensical ("if poetry was pussy I'd be sunshine"?) but there's a nice sense of freewheeling whimsy to 'Resurrection' that makes this not matter one iota. I was also thinking listening to this how it's funny how the samples in 90s hip-hop make it seem older than it is (and by now it's actually very old)—and how a beat like this, sampling a sunny jazzy piano, gives that impression of the 90s being a sort of pre-millenial analogue Eden.

And chastise the best of guys with punchlines
I'm Nestle when it's crunch-time
For your mind like one time
If poetry was pussy I'd be sunshine
'Cause I deliver like the Sun-Times
Confined in once-mines on dumb rhymes I combine
I'm hype like I'm unsigned, my diet I un-swine

WITH THE SPIRIT OF LOVE!

@martin's latest epic post has sent me rushing to the IKEA KALLAX ( f/k/a BILLY ) shelves to retrieve my On-U Sound 10" ( the worst format ) "discoplates"

Prince Far-I - Calling Over The Distant Sea

Kunet Kinte synth

I like that, but I'm actually going to nominate this tune on The Voice of Thunder's label, CRY TUFF

Black Skin The Prophet - Red Blood

I first heard this off a Aba-Shanti-I tape "with Jasmine Joe at the controls" ( I think this was about the time he had just parted ways with JAH TUBBYS ) which was foisted upon me by Dougie Conscious when I was trying to buy JAH SHAKA SOUND tapes and he was all classic record shop dude behind the counter, "NAH, YOU DON'T WANT THAT, YOU NEED THIS". ****

and I wish I could find that tape, it started off with this tune drenched in echo and siren and then burst into Devon Irons "vampire" with even more dub siren echo and righteous chant

it went bit downhill after that but the first ten minutes of that tape was "pure fire"

it took me years to identify the Black Skin The Prophet tune and then even longer to actually find a copy of the record

**** I suspect that there were no JAH SHAKA SOUND TAPES under the counter and I was palmed off with an inferior product, but this tune made up for my disappointment and lead me on a decade long side quest

yeah I couldn't be bothered to take my compressor off. I have it on to make tunes sound like they're being played through pirate radio/sound system tapes.

Been listening to 'The Frenz Experiment' by The Fall this morning. Listening to entire albums is on my big list of to dos. I have managed to do it, but not 'actively', not with my full attention as I'd hoped. I've been tapping away on my laptop the whole time. But I'm glad I managed it.

The Fall - Hit The North (1988)

Let me enrage the shade of MES but stating that this is a banger.
