As for the definition of the beat, to me it does seem really obvious that, from the thread above, there is a certain beat which, say, Hallogallo and C-Rock and a few of the others have that others just don't... maybe I confused things by posting the ones that I think of as kinda quasi-motorik - but even if mototrik has a strict definition, then I'm sure that quasi- or proto-motorik doesn't - to me it means stuff that doesn't meet the strict definition but which is sort of similar, probably repetitive and - most importantly - gives you something of the same feeling when you hear it. So please feel free to keep coming with those...

Hawkwind are a good example to me, obviously fans of Neu! (Dave Brock wrote some sleeve notes for the UK release of the first album didn't he?) and lots of their songs are almost motorik - I dunno if they were trying for it and failing or what but Shouldn't Do That, Valium 10, Silver Machine are all kinda close to it but not quite - only Opa-Loka is absolutely motorik for me.

A few tunes that are almost-motorik to my ears or maybe some of them just bring about the same result in me without really being that similar

Another that sounds like an army marching (as with the Tolouse LowTrax one a few pages back)
That album by Craig Leon is one that I always think of motorik adjacent somehow.. it's definitely not that beat but it hits me in the same way
This one always seems like a lost Can track (I think it's Alessandroni and Sorgini, both Italian soundtrack legends)

And now getting really far but the second track on side b (maybe number 9?) has drums I think of as hypnotic too... but this is really straying

I could never get with Tortoise somehow. A lot of post-rock sounded like something I should like without me ever actually liking much of it at all.
That said, I have a feeling that Trans Am may have had a few good ones. I remember buying one of their singles... but was it cos I liked it, or just to see if I would like it? That bit I forget.

The Blurt one? It's a killer right. To me it feels like a kinda homage to Can. I love the lyric which I think says something about "New numbers, that had never been counted before" which is a bizarre concept that makes for a great vocal.

Oh yeah phwoar check 'em out! Lovely pair of motoriks there... but I've heard it before. I wasn't specific but I want people to introduce me to stuff that I like and which I haven't heard before. And ideally which isn't by the Cunting Crows.
Seriously though, Counting Crows in a thread about motorik stuff? Next you'll be telling me that Eurythmics did an album with members of Can and produced by Conny Planck or that Simple Minds did a krautsynth banger or fucking Robert Palmer did this or something

We need to get away from the idea that krautrock fans are all joyless ascetics who think that any song that is less than half an hour long or which is trivial enough to bother with something that approaches melody or variation is a disgraceful betrayal of the purity of the vision. So, bearing that in mind, on this occasion, against my better judgment, I am not going to have you dragged off to a labour camp for reprogramming - just don't do it again. I will not have anyone making jokes about or impugning the seriousness of my beloved cabbage rock.

One thing I really like is when you do find an amazing tune by a terrible band. My friend and like to swap finds of that nature and to tell each other about unlikely collaborations - such as Eurythmics and Can - so once I tricked him into believing that Delamitri had recorded a song with someone from Neu!
