They basically broadcast to the world that they were going to attack the US in a spectacular way, but nobody bothered to pay attention. I was studying in Leeds in the late 90s, and there were lots of stories in the local press about lads from Leeds and Bradford disappearing to Afghanistan. It wasn’t that much of a surprise if you were paying any attention at all.

my first response to 9/11 was to burst out laughing. it felt joyous in the moment. once you think of people
dying and that your reaction becomes more mixed but the first response of most people i know was crazy joy

Why do you think nobody bothered to pay attention?

Because nobody was interested and nobody took it seriously anyway. Whenever Al’Qaeda did anything newsworthy it was in a part of the world nobody gave a shit about. The Clinton administration treated it as a criminal matter, rather than a national security threat.

This is all basic stuff if you really want to know about it.

what i don't understand is that those who finance these groups, saudi-arabia doing al quado and pakistan doing the taliban are the usa best allies in their respective regions.

Yes, it’s very complicated, but it’s not hard to understand if you make some effort.

I was shocked and horrified on and by 9/11, but I honestly wasn’t surprised.
I've read at least one interview with DeLillo where a journalist's tried to foist the prophet label on him re: 9/11 and he was quick to point out it wasn't even the first time someone had tried to blow up the WTC and anyone who was paying attention knew it was an obvious target.

one of the more stupid bits of 9/11 truthing is laying out all the images of the towers on fire in movies posters and pointing to that as some clue

I often find myself wishing the really hardcore conspiracy guys would devote their attention to stuff like the Panama Papers, but it's obviously not as sexy.

I know it sounds insane, but I think Al’Qaeda were the obvious culprits. The other contenders were who? Hezbollah? A far right militia, a la McVeigh? Iraq? France? The Jews? The US government?

On the balance of probability, and paying attention to the preceding year’s events like Nairobi and the USS Cole, and the fact that they admitted it, and everything else really if you took any interest in it at all, they are the most plausible offenders.
I think it was al quadea too. Im more interested in the level of info (if any at all) that certain US officials may have had before it happened. and the general strangeness of the pentagon attack.

Yes Ramsi Yousef, the head of the CIA James Woolsey came to Swansea to collect information on him because he studied there at a technical college. Check it out.
