93 Psychic TV rarities, One John Holt hit, and 23 random tunes divided by the trinity multiplied by the duality rounded down = 108

CHAPTER 5

technically I've got two more tunes to play, but as sometimes happens I may run over, hogging the decks so to speak until the room starts spinning

this really hasn't gone to plan as it's not been a ranked "I prefer this tune over this one" chart but more of a what I played while steaming

anyway, it's another weekend and

2

Freddie McKay - Another Weekend

what can I say? one of the most underrated vocalists croons over a killer Roots Radics rhythm, that bassline! with Scientist on the mix! I have an extensive collection of Greensleeves discomix 12 inches / a vinyl hoarding problem, and this is in my top 10

Another Weekend!
Oh Yeah!

Are you felling alright?
Are you feeling niiiice?

Another Weekend!
You and I

I'm going to put on my three piece suit
I'm going to put on my dancing shoes
I'm going to take you for a ball
Tonight
You and I

Bring along your fat fat friend
Bring along your sister too
Bring along your Mammy too
Let us have a ball

and then after three and a half minutes of Freddy promising someone a good time Scientist takes over and unleashes the gated reverb on the snare and guitar and Flabba Holt pummels us with an insistent bass while Style Scott holds it all together

I love this tune to the extent that I will ignore the "how you feeling child" lyric because I suspect that Freddy's companion may be a bit younger than him but I'll turn a blind eye which is why the UK is such a fucked up mess

we don't have to deal with integers when we can have floating points! didn't the UK turn decimal decades ago? like the UK as a nation dropped LSD as a currency one and all...

Barrington Levy - Tomorrow Is Another Day

Tomorrow can bring you things that you never seen before

Roots Radics provide the rhythm while Barnabas works the mixing desk

3.33 a bar or two of pure Flabba and then everyone drops in and out dubwise

and with a flick of my musical wrist I flip the 12" over to the B side and the DJ version

Papa Tullo - Delaware

yet again I might choose to ignore the "little girl" lyrics because I assume she's maybe a bit shorter than him?

Approx 4 mins in papa shuts up and the Radics enter the realms of dub

Barrington Levy - Robin Hood / Scientist - Upper Cut

shout all to all Nottingham massive!

I once made myself a custom CD of all the tunes off the Robin Hood album paired with the Scientist Heavyweight Dub Champion LP and then a few years later VP records who bought the Greensleeves catalogue stole my idea but unlike me they just stuck the Scientist album which they credited to Junjo on one CD and the Barry tunes on the second

thankfully someone on youtube has done it properly, vocal then dub, just like i would hve done if i could be arsed

i did open a youtube channel once but even i can't find it, but the only video on it was a Senegalese sabar spectacular, i wish i could locate it

Barrington Levy - Hunter Man

discomix style

mixed at King Tubby's, uncredited, but I suspect Scientist

that's the album version

here's the B side of the 12 inch ( the A side was fucked up by who ever uploaded it to youtube, otherwise I would have posted that 11 minute version )

Lawes Rockers - Hunter Dub

Jah Thomas chats shit over the top

edit: while searching for my Barrington singles I came across this - how could I have forgotten this? this is the version I've "played out"

Barrington Levy / Jah Thomas - Shaolin Temple

when I used to buy bootleg Kung Fu vids there was once another customer who told me he'd been to see the shaolin monks gymnastic display the night before and he tried to ask them about "techniques" and 'training" but all the monks were interested in was the location of "Long Legs" ( a lap dancing / gentleman's club in city centre Manchester )

Barrington Levy - Poor Man Style

Liverpool used to have a MILITANT council and they did things like put on free concerts in Sefton Park and I went to one where Barrington was on the bill and I was walking down a path and almost bumped into him and he was dressed in an expensive looking white suit with a matching hat that was probably made by Gregory Isaac's milliner that probably cost more than I earned that year but who am I to criticise someone who had no electricity as a child for dressing nice?

Count Ossie & The Rasta Family - Drums For The Wise Man

or as I prefer to call it: RUM FOR THE WISE MAN

which reminds me of one my favourite scenes from one of my favourite films, the number one feature film about UK SOUND SYSTEM

where the former child star of the DOUBLE DECKERS gets cornered by the cosmic IRIE rastaman after a spat with his girlfriend

BABYLON - NYABINGHI in a dingy Church Hall / community centre scene
