Quaint. I got a similar response telling people about the web in 1994, now they're all living their entire lives online. They did take over, decades ago.

That's only to combat US sanctions though, isn't it. It's not a strategic move, its a desperation one

I am still invested in BTC and could cash out a decent little profit at the moment for the fourth time, but i am still unconvinced it works as anything other than a speculative market

Ultimately most of the evangelists are just internet idiots. Look at that lad you posted, these are not the people successful society is formed around.
