I was hoping it’d have more Wayland Corp lore and fill some stuff in from Prometheus and Covenant, in vain of course. Cos I knew version’s description would fit the bill all along
Blade Runner 2049 was on telly the other night - what is it with these films all about genocidal corporate cyborgs elevated to godhood destroying creation

tho outside of the mcu fan sphere, these films in the mcu by these "auteurs" seem pretty forgotten and overlooked especially when the directors are discussed.... just unoriginal cashgrabs....
And within the MCU fan sphere, most people don’t seem to care too much about directorial style anyway.

You've seen the TV series I hope? Always find it weird that a lot of ppl have only seen the films.

Haven't gone to see it yet, no. I'm skint as fuck til payday. But I probably won't even go tbh. I've read enough lukewarm feedback to put me off.
Well aren’t they the same? Or dies the serial version have content that the films don’t?

i wouldnt call any of those guys auteurs.... but they are tarkovsky and hitchcock to mcu workers and fans...
Yeah I’m being pretty generous with the term here, just meaning any decent director with a discernible style which distinguishes their films from most others.

And in the case of MCU, I’m saying that the corporate production agenda tends to flatten them out, stylistically, into lowest common denominator market appeal (which unfortunately in MCUs case usually means boilerplate plots with vanilla atmospheres), except wahtitis really, maybe one or two others I’m forgetting.

And all of that is to say, that I like the idea of a franchise which actually empowers auteurs (even in the generous sense of the term) to re-envision the world of the films/series, according to some singular style.

Like imagine if A24 somehow acquired all the Marvel IP.

Very funny to go to a film called Queer and boo the gay sex scenes.

"I thought it meant queer in the old sense. 1 star."

Curious about this one; can see @Clinamenic being interested too.

The Brutalist is a 2024 epic historical drama... The film chronicles 30 years in the life of László Tóth, a Hungarian-born Jewish architect who survived the Holocaust. After the end of World War II, he emigrated to the United States with his wife, Erzsébet, to experience the "American dream". László initially endures poverty and indignity, but he soon lands a contract with a mysterious and wealthy client, Harrison Lee Van Buren, that will change the course of his life.
