I agree. At least it was trying. Unlike the rest of the shit that’s gone up around it. Cheese Grater, Walkie Talkie, Plantation Place, 1 Poultry (thanks Rich for reminding us just how ugly that fucker is)
It's sheer vandalism. Couldn't they have just smashed up a phone box or drawn a dick on a wall or something?

Richard Rogers designed some absolute atrocities.

Criticisms

[edit]
Like Frank Lloyd Wright's and Le Corbusier's, some of Rogers's buildings have not proved as well designed as claimed,[by whom?] suffering from leaks and maintenance problems.[citation needed] The Lloyds Buildings's much-vaunted design innovation of routing the service pipes outside the walls in fact led to such costs caused by weathering and maintenance that Lloyds considered vacating the building in 2014. Lloyds's former chief executive Richard Ward stated: "There is a fundamental problem with this building. Everything is exposed to the elements, and that makes it very costly."[74]

In 2014 Rogers faced a £5m legal claim over problems at the Oxley Woods estate designed by the firm. Residents complained of water seepage through cladding panels and windows on the prefabricated terraced housing.

Also that building called The Strata Tower in SE1, with the three big fan turbines on the top. The turbines were switched off after the first week and never switched back on. I mean just look at the state of it...

At least Frank Lloyd Wright's buildings look good. What's the point of sacrificing the functionality of a building to make something that looks like it was designed by a four year old with a crayon?

It was a reaction within architectural circles to the austereness of modernism and the brutalism of brutalism. There are literally hundreds of books out there explaining the history and theory behind all of this.

You missed the point there, I was talking about a specific building not the movement as a whole. I'm just saying when you sacrifice functionality (ie if your building leaks) you should gain something pretty good to make up for it.

There's no reason why post-modernity should look bad, but the ones I posted (mainly) do.
I can't think of good ones off the top of my head but I'm sure there are plenty... help me out here Rudy
