finally listened to the first three throbbing gristle albums (inspired by my veteran raver friend from the grocery store reading thee psychick bible) and i have to admit they didn't make a big impression on me. didn't grab my attention by the lapels the way i expect canonical stuff to. evocative, imagination-sparking atmospheres created - but not really channeled into forms with strong momentum/flow. each track just sort of putters around in a vaguely menacing way for a few minutes. so the intensity you can imagine was going into the music doesn't quite come out of it.
