difference is I hate students and think they are the ruin of everything. train drivers know more than students because they acquire knowledge in a non-cultural way. students would be rendered useless if we truly socialised publishing.
That is precisely why I started the corner stone thread! Whenever I’ve attended meetings of ISR, GP, DSA (which was virtual/zoom for full disclosure) it’s all these twats talking about lofty ideals using unpronounceable never mind understandable language, and I’m just thinking: who’s gonna keep the sewer system/water running. Lights on, transportation, drive the long haul 18 wheelers….

Maybe it doesn't need talking about. If it happens, it happens.

I don’t think that MUST be so. I do think if it happened now ‘we’d’ be decimated. Maybe it’s personal for me. I’m searching for the language that will resonate with the working class, that isn’t rightwing reactionary.
I can articulate it over a pint with a stranger in the bar when politics comes up, but can’t seem to grasp the technique the right has mastered (“Look! There’s the enemy, they ain’t your friend. Attack!”), lol. The average worker in the trades/civil service have a modicum of labor union consciousness, but, and I don’t know for sure but have a strong suspicion through hard life lessons that most Americans are impervious to working class consciousness. Any trip to the local bodega will bear it out. Lines of people at the lottery kiosk spending substantial amounts of hard earned dough. Americans in general seem to see themselves as temporarily broke millionaires.

This is more bougie liberal but the spirit is pretty close to the point:
