im allergic to comedy music. it really offends me. music should be sublime. it should have a potency. and not just be consumer detritus

in the 90s there was a hige focus on this notion of 'cult' that tarintino was a huge part of and that was a formative inflluence on rich for sure as part of that generation. lots of pulpy kind of stuff, library music, exotica etc

i guess you're just stirring the pot here, but to be clear, I'm not being ultra brutal and vicious - even rich said it had "exotica" in it, something that is considered kitsch/novelty music

Of course he's stirring the pot, he's sadly stung by my sharing of that bit where Padraig pointed out that apart from reading Pound Luka's taste is in every way the same as that of a fourteen year old girl sitting in class chewing gum and talking with her friends about which one she'd snog. Disregard the fig leaves it's dressed up with and that's what you're left with.

i doubt i said that it doesnt sound like me at all. that would be really rude.
you;ve got very narrow and predictable taste in music but i wouldn't say shit exactly

I disagree. Timberally benny has the narrowist music taste on here. That isn't an opinion but fact.

Barty was pretty narrow but we managed to get him into grm etc.

The fact that you haven't bullied benny into being a champion of parmegiani is an indictment against you, bro.

anyway I fully support oblique's track choices and mixes and think he is an accomplished selector.

Simon's taste is pretty narrow as well, he can't seem to understand free jazz at all. As someone who grew up on turkish music with its quartertonal scales all the stuff that people like Archie Shepp and Coltrane was doing makes perfect sense to me, it's not just random egghead blowing, there is actually a lot of blues in there.

The more academic egghead tendancies you get in european free improv, granted.

Although I like some of that when it is focused — Han Dennink etc.
