Public Enemies.
I can't un-recommend it, but I can't recommend it either, which is a disappointment cos it's the kind of thing I usually love.

Antichrist.
Don't. Just don't.
Really? Not even for Anthony Dog Mantle's camera work? I kinda just wanted to see it for the way it looks, I don't care for Lars Von Trier's work in general though.

I think you mean 'basterds'.
If you can tell a film is going to be shit just from the title, something is going very wrong.
so... Salo, 120 Days of Sodom. Watched this last night.
I quite liked Antichrist. I think any fan of A. Tarkowski or D. Lynch would find it interesting. It's quite surreal and touches on many subjects, with the dominant themes being the dominance/submission dialectics in male/female relationships, grief, nature vs nurture, sacrifice, etc, the whole gamut of art-movie favourites.
Definitely a Lynch fan, but for me Antichrist echoed Inland Empire - both films where the director seemed to be intent on testing the audience's patience to the very limit in a quasi-parody of their previous work.
Antichrist is a lot more coherent than Inland Empire. I can't understand how you could fall asleep in Antichrist, there's a lot of shocking violence. Maybe you shouldn't watch this kind of movie when you are tired.
I really like Jackie Brown, myself.
yowza - once is enough!People get circumsized for reals everyday.
Violence isn't shocking if it's been the wallpaper to your life, tho. I mean, I think Antichrist sound intriguing enough, and visually I like the trailer, but violence is hardly enough to shock anyone anymore is it? People get circumsized for reals everyday.
