i had to check my watch when i first listened to that shy fx track to see if it wasnt still 1999.
Man I was so excited when word dropped that he would have shy fx on his album expecting something better than what was on their. Cutting room floor material for sure.
I hated this album first listen....but i gave it benefit of the doubt. About 4 listens later i dont like it at all. If anything when I play grime music (i know dizzee almost doesnt fit there anymore) ppl enjoy the fresh beats and sound that comes from it. PPl overseas seemed to enjoy the freshness of what dizzee was all about and he was the leader of the pack. There is nothing fresh about this album whatsoever.

Kinda agree with the above comments now I've had tme to digest this album a bit. Really only like the first and last tracks on the album. The rest of it sounds sanatised beatswise. Lyrics though are good when they are not in that basic lazy flow that Dizzee seems to be slipping more into here.

if this had come out as an EP with "pussyhole", "where da g's", "hardback", "u can't tell me nuffin" and maybe "suck my dick" and "bubbles" people would have loved it... there are just too many blah other songs... the commercial ones like Flex, Wannabe, Sirens, and Da Feelin' sounds forced and work for neither pop fans nor grime/hip hop ones...

i heard the b-side to pussyole - my life feat. newham gens. beat is good, sort of like a slowed down, vaguely hip-hop-formatted ambient/synth-wash D&B thing. but dizzees verse is depressingly dull and generic, and the newham gens are decent and they sound like their personalities have been stripped away a bit.

Saw Dizzee live in Melbourne twice in the last two days. The new material stands up really well live.
He had thousands of people packed in to a big top tent going absolutely mental, hundreds of kids
dancing to original nuttah (awesome to see given that most of them would never have heard it,)
and overall put on a very professional show - something which hip hop tours down here invariably lack.
Sure, there's not as much grime as there used to be, but he's going from strength to strength with the party
vibe he has happening with his new stuff. I'm sure he's having a great time too.

It's kind of embarrassing to watch Dizzee constantly force himself to fit into rap these days. Growing up and being a teen, I'd always get frustrated that when it was his big chance amongst rappers, he never went full-throttle but defaulted to that "MY NAME IS DIZZEE-DIZ, I HANDLE MY BIZ..." old-school flow. Obviously as Danny Brown's continued homages to Dizzee proved, it's him in his element that really wins fans over.
The new songs are deplorable. He just doesn't fit in, and it's laughable how he tries to think he can fit in the American rap climate just because the pacing in flows have gotten closer to what's easy for him. Now he sounds so flat and rigid.

really want to like the new album, and i think i will listen to everything he makes, cos im a fan of dizzee, but theres something just a bit flat about the new album, even though his rapping is technically great. its like hes become more and more hip hop based since hes been making music, and its meant his music when not 100% chart-focused is to me at least, strangely dull. i dont totally get it. its someone putting a lot of energy into something, not even sounding like hes trying hard, its just that hes become a bit... boring. theres something a bit funkless about his beats now too. kind of leaden. like rap for D&B fans. still better than anything kano makes these days anyway.
