bandz ahoy
He's a wicked DJ - technically great, top drawer selection, knows how to structure a set and read a crowd...

GOOD dubstep, garage/2step, maybe a bit of grime, probably some funky.

Only set online is an all garage set, which is brilliant, but I'd expect a lot more new stuff at FWD...

brackles = young notts-based producer/dj. Never seen him before but he's meant to be a wicked DJ, he won the times national student dj competition or something!

Tbh I'm finding the self-congratulatory cynicism in this thread pretty irritating too...

Unless I've become cynicism insensitive (which is always a possibilty) what are you talking about? If anything a lot of the responses over there seemed to be pussying around with how inconvenient it made their lives, but then acting grateful because ultimately they need it to promote their music/nights/mixes/radio shows/scenester-groupie credentials, which to my mind is more cynical than anything I could hope to aspire to.

I reckon they would have left it shut longer if so many alternatives hadn't shot up so soon and realised they weren't the only show in town. I'm not bothered with the step any more, but the group dynamics were fascinating to observe.

graphic designer i think

Is that all? Just that I noticed whilst I was there that he did seem quite concerned about how dubstep was branded and how the forum was perceived by newcomers so figured he must have an interest beyond being just a fan (even if he designs flyers).

Not saying it's some illuminati shit or anything, just something I noticed over the years.

im doing a solo show on subfm tonight from 8-10 :)

What sort of thing, haven't tuned in for a while.

Might be up for that if I get off the net and do my essay (access course donchaknow - was trying to work out how to make euthanasia a more interesting topic, then whilst at work figured that most of the pain in my life came from annoyance with others and somehow turned it into an argument for justified spree kills - must think inside the box more, tangential, fucking brain)

Sounds good Ben, might not be in the chat but will try and tune in (or lock as you young folks say).

Yeah mix looks good, thought bok bok a bit of an unusual mix partner for you but then looking at the tracklisting it all makes sense. Looks quite rowdy so all good :D

yeah it was funny to see those dubstep forum ppl turn up here, all furrowed brows discussing gravely the micro details of producers different styles and the problems with dubstep (maybe it's them actually) then fuck off again once dubstep forum had opened up their loving arms once again.

I'm still lurking I guess... I like reading of a good conversation if not for informational then pure entertainment value :) and this place kind of reminds me of the In/Flux mail list way back in the day, so should be good...
