Edit: Damn

The UEFA cup, meanwhile, is crazy competetive. And not bad quality - the last few finals have been very good, at least. Although actually, Rangers were horrible last year, weren't they? So ignore me. Zenit were good, though.

"so we're in a position of the 'least bad' between the associations and the clubs and it's damaging the competitivity for the fans, although not entirely lessening the spectacle."
I think that's exactly right - basically the spectacle is so good that it carries the whole thing and means that a lot of people turn a blind eye to the problems.

and not enough people in the media (david conn being an exception perhaps) are saying "is this right?".
Not sure about this, I reckon that there are loads of articles moaning about this... although the same journalists then have to go and write about the spectacle soon afterwards and most of the time they love it just like we do.

That ws a bonus, it was looking like a massacre until the goal. Even for a neutral, it's the ideal scenario, since Barca can't defend and United have to attack.

this could be one final that doesn't disappoint.

I don't remember a Manchester United team looking so second-rate and resigned in a major final...

Iniesta + Xaxi outplayed their midfield comprehensively. Barca could have scored four or five.

I think Ferguson got his team wrong. Park lacked touch and Anderson looked out of his depth.

Also, Ronaldo always looks irritated these days. When was the last time he smiled?

Berbatov should have started.

indeed - a way to go for utd before they rank with the legends like liverpool, forest and the rest

Park is average (picked for commercial reasons?) and anderson has gone backwards this year - utd fans were purring about him last season, but it'll be a while before they're singing that chant about him shitting on fabregas again.

they missed fletcher badly

im amazed that people enjoyed this. what was there to enjoy? a load of nervewracked
blokes in white tshirts standing by listlessly as barca wove an intricate web of non-consequential passes around the centre of the pitch. it was as boring as watching serie A. rooney seems to be suffering some sort of cirsis of confidence, possibly due to being so comprehensively outshone by ronaldo, carrick was utterly pointless, song was a bag of nerves, im not sure giggs touched the ball.
i wasn't bothered about who won, but i was looking foward to seeing a tight, competitive, exciting football match, that pile of shit didn't come close. barca weren't very impressive, utd were abject.
