Yeah, just seen that, although in a way it seems a bit of a non-story 'cause he's just repeating what he said before, there don't really seem to have been any developments except that he had a meeting with Ronaldo although the upshot of that meeting is left deliberately vague."p.s. breaking news, fergie says ronaldo is staying. what do you think rich? most united fans seem to be quite ambivalent to the whole thing, which is a shame because he's treating the biggest club in england- and the club that has frequently overcome the loss of key players- like a groupie. five years ago fergie would've got rid, i reckon."

As for whether his staying is a good thing (assuming he is), I dunno, I agree with Vimothy to a certain extent, I feel that if it was true that Madrid were offering the sums that were floating around early in the close-season then it would be better to offload the discontented player and buy a load of top class replacements (though not Robinho) with the ridiculous amount of money they got in exchange. On the other hand, I feel that Ferguson painted himself into a corner by saying "not for sale" - if they were forced to sell him after that then it would be a blow to the pride of the manager and also to the club that likes to see itself as the biggest in the world. If Madrid can just swoop in and take their best assets against their will then it would be hard to maintain credibility in claiming that position - Champions League title and number of fans notwithstanding.
Be interested to see what kind of reception he gets in the first games (although he did ok when everyone predicted disaster after the world cup) although I'm sure that if he bangs in forty again no-one will complain.
