Not an Arsenal fan and don't have a problem with Liverpool - but Arsenal were properly robbed yesterday. Jesus.

How? 8 minutes is a minimum and time needed to be added on for the penalty, celebration and free kick. Also, no ref is going to blow the final whistle when a team has the ball in the opponent's box.

Yeah, but 4 minutes more seems a lot even for that. Plus it wasn't a penalty imo, Leiva was backing into Eboue and the ball was going out. Prob not worth arguing it more than this though.

Arsenal got what they deserved. technically a little unlucky perhaps, but jesus, Eboue should be dropped for even attempting any kind of challenge in that position.

can't get a decent stream going, but apparently Barcleona have no shots on target in an hour's play. Just as I suspected might happen (esp as he has excellent players at his own disposal), Mourinho has begun to suss them out. the two CL games are going to be IMMENSE

Barca improved a lot in the second half and if it weren't for Casillas and a correct offside decision could have easily scored. They had more space to play in, although I'm not sure if that was just Real tiring/a chance in tactics after Ozil came off or Barca just playing a lot better. Still, great header by Ronaldo. I think playing Pepe in midfield is working nicely for Real as it's really restricting Messi, but as I say that did change in the second half.

That's been my hunch (I say this honestly - not many of my hunches prove right though) since the 5-0 - I bet Mourinho has spent hundreds of hours playing those tapes through and devising a plan to beat Barca. The man's nothing if not meticulous and disgisted with failure. And apparently during the first half he got it pretty right (stream was bad, couldn't see it all).

Now I think it's a major test of Guardiola's own tactical nous to work out a safe path through over two legs.

Just a thought, and may be way, way off as my knowledge of football tactics is shoddy, but any similarities between RM's first half set-up tonight and Chelsea's when they effectively beat Barca in 2009? May be none, just curious.

What happened to Schalke last night? Seemed like they didn't turn up. I guess they have to be happy that they're still just about in the tie when they should have been buried by five or six. Good performance from United fair enough but Schalke didn't exactly make it hard for them.

66 per cent possession for the away team in unbelievable. I think Schalke quite simply froze, the pressure finally got to them. Neuer was unbelievable too (and Hernandez unusually erratic in first half), so should've been at least 4.

Just about in the tie if they grab a quick goal and United get nervous a la Leverkusen 2002. Unlikely though, and a bit of a letdown as a contest.

its probably overstating th case to claim eitheer barca or real will be shitting themselves at the thought of playing man utd at wembly in the final but its probably the last team they would have wanted there. i had to gete up at 4.45am to watch that but im glad i did.

Well last night United looked like Barcelona but it's not that difficult if you're allowed so much time on the ball. One thing is for sure, if they do make it to the final, they will have to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal.
