I suppose along with the sudden improvement of England, Ireland once more choking in a big match and Wales woeful performances is the rise of Italy - long overdue and often been on the wrong side of tight results but this season coming good. Reminiscent of the French in the 70s that mixture of individual flair with some brutish forward play.

Not a game of forum significance maybe for class reasons I dunno except .. except .. it could be, for the marriage of strategic straightforwardness, limitless rule nuances/interpretations of a psychotically played game‘s ugly beauty. Nothing like the ugliness of UFC and harm reduction is a huge focus point now. Rugby League took streamlined aspects of the game and built itself around ball in play time, Muggins was raised on union’s specific stop~start set-piece patterns of scrummaging, line outs, smashing/clearing out rucks, dark arts and trying to disable anyone you could. An ex gf kept asking “why do they keep kicking the ball into the crowd? because the crowd are clapping not cheering”. Aye love, nvrmnd..
