Re. unfriendly Londoners: I don't really see this. I mean, yeah, it's often packed on the tube and the busses, but considering the severity of the congestion I think you see fights and arguments surprisingly seldom. And so what if people don't talk to each other - do you really want every nutter giving you his life story while you're trying to read your book on the way home?
Sounds like sufi had a shitty time trying to get through the West End during the evening rush hour - well of course it's horrible, that's the West End all over, it's tourist-packed, overpriced tat from one end to the other. But it's ludicrous not to give London credit for its other aspects and areas, you know, the ones that are actually good...
For me, the wost bits of London are how little of the tube network actually runs at the weekends, and how noisy it is at night where I live. Emergency vehicles screeching down Bow Road with sirens blazing, lairy rudeboy dicks yelling their heads off at all hours, the constant alarms, drunk knobs coming home at three in the morning making a fucking racket all over the place...probably hard to avoid this in any decent-sized town or city, though.
