Darned cockwombles.
i'd like to like this way more than I actually do like it. it's good, but there's something missing, and that something is probably drums, for the most part.

There's definitely a lack of typical "HIT YOU" hip-hop drums. But I think he purposely lacks that in order to sound unique. It took me a while to get used to it too, so I don't blame you.

Anybody else here feeling Main Attrakionz? Squadda B's making some beats that really reach for this haunted vibe. Kinda advanced, but still really rooted in hip-hop.

Really feeling this one. Does it use the same sample source as Lil B's 'I'm God'?

Yep, it's an Imogen Heap record. Which B's used at least 4-5 times himself now (probably even more).

Love that Danny Brown 'Hybrid' album, just listened to it for the first time. Raw.

Sometimes his voice/delivery jars me and sometimes I think it's brilliant.

This is a big tune.

Interesting article on him by noz here http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/interviews/id.1605/title.waka-flocka-flame-gangsta-rap-made-me-do-it

It's funny, this is the kind of rap music I would probably have slagged off a few years ago for not being lyrical enough etc... I was listening to 50 Cent 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'' last night, almost every hook is catchy and almost every beat is banging but the lyrics are pretty much air. When I think about it this is pretty much the case with 'Doggystyle' too.

There's a whole mixtape of Droop-E on Sade-related beats.
It's well worth grabbing.

Danny Brown is a Super-Hero.

He sounds like Charlie Brown from L.O.N.S. on this one. If Dinco and Busta had been obsessed with coke in '93.

wow, even considering that rhyming over one of hip-hop's greatest beats can never hurt, he got an amazing flow - anything else to recommend?

OK, this is old, but still, a beautiful instrumental. Heard it on the cloud rap tape, and it fits in sublimely.

Edit: And crowleyhead, you were 100% right, that stuff grows on you - loving Main Attrakionz now. Go as far to say it's the freshest thing I've heard this year...

Yep. First time I heard them, I was like "... Eh, what is this? Sounds weird..."

Next month later, I was dancing around to "Back On Deck" like a damn fool.

Also, Squadda's solo track on that mixtape, "MP3 Racked Up"? SO GOOD. Like, hyper depressive drug rap without being chopped and screwed. Weird as this sounds, I get Maddslinky vibes from that track.
