The word "Wonky" is the named used in the negative term when referring to Funky or UK House, Urban House or whatever is your preference. I'd rather stick to Funky or UK funky personally. Either way it's all the same thing lol. You may wish to search "Say no to wonky"

There is a night on tonight at Beach Bar in Lambeth called Pure House which is only £5 before midnight which is a really good price lol

Otherwise there is Fridge Bar every Sunday which is a good weekly event.

E3 has closed now I'm afraid to say. Flex Bar in Dagenham is proving to be the new regular spot for the addicts :D

I think Wonky is a good name for some of the stuff being played. I read the Blackdown blog on it and there is a quote from Circle Events about what they mean. Most of the tunes I rate are the grimier sounding ones.

Marcus Nasty is playing at YoYo in Notting Hill on Thursday.

I am fully aware of what is Wonky. I however do not think Marcus Nasty plays it. I will make it a point to ask him his opinion though lol :D

Sorry, I wasn't implying you didn't I was just linking to the blog on it. It is a word that I think describes some of the bugged out stuff though.

Anyone got any links to some Funky tunes Jammer has made? I would like to have a listen. Hopefully Wiley might make a few beats, I would be interested to hear what he would do with it

No offence taken. I think the link you posted made a good reference. Especially for those who aren't aware. Wonky productions are also not favoured for the fact that upon mixing DJs are not able to let the mix ride once finding their sync. Due to the production being of course "Wonky" LOL

I'm still struggling to find any record shops for vinyl other than the norm..... Can anybody help??

Only the normal couple of shops seem to stock it at the moment and not much is out there yet.

Rhythm Division have got SCRATCHER ft ALAHNA - IM LEAVING as an exclusive, its on their myspace but the shop website is down at the moment. Its not really my thing that one but I'm sure they stock other stuff as well. Maybe give them a ring and see what they have in.

All of the stuff at Uptown is on their site.

I know some stuff has been signed up but its going to take a while to be mastered and pressed up. The Geeneus album should be out soon I think?

thanks for that continuum :D haven't heard a marc ryder funky set yet.

very glad to see signs of life at rhythm division. they have a new myspace as well. i wonder if rebuilding their webshop from the ground up is too much to ask. it was never easy to browse but they had a bit of selection when it came to funky, and cheaper than uptown all around.

anyone know the rationale behind uptown as the near-exclusive source? is it that the other shops aren't really interested (seems unlikely at this stage) or that they've somehow convinced the artists that that's good for sales. it doesn't make sense for them to have a lock on tunes as big as african warrior or bongo jam especially.

hint

party record with a siren

Perhaps someone at Uptown is involved with the pressing of some of these releases, which means they then secure the exclusive for a month or two?

I just dont know

this is what i had assumed, or maybe just that the uptown guys are tight with producers / labels and so its a collective thing

just found this...

Mak 10 on Pyro Radio 17.10.08

so far sounds like a much more 'soulful'/funky vibe than his rinse sets

I just dont know
the Crazy Cousinz remix of Jazmine Sullivan just keeps getting better the more i hear it, so deep

I'm not sure what happens with the Rinse Podcasts. I get them automatically from itunes. Although it would be better if you could choose what you want.
