if detroit can have a myth based on a couple of pleasant burbling techno records why isn't london held in the same awe and reverance?

it is a musical mecca... all the people i know from when i got into music ended up living in london or at least visited.

could be my advancing years but from the outside nothing past grime has held the vitality the styles from the 80s / 90s did...
