But there's at least the possibilty that europe and the west could soon enough be funneling resources to one side in that war.
fyi they already are, with some eu countries still hesitating from providing offensive weapons, some going full on

Yeah, Germany's come off the fence in a big way and is supplying anti-tank rockets and stuff like that.

Kind of wondering why are Londoners gathering in front of the Russian embassy rather than, idk, Priti Patel's office or something since UK doesn't allow in refugees from Ukraine?

again with the caveat that i don't know anything about that part of the world (ukraine etc), one thing that does look like it is happening to some extent in the west is the emergence of an idea that fighting against russia is a 'just war', ie, a war where we can all get behind one side of the conflict. if this thing becomes prolonged and bloody that could look strange in retrospect i think

yurp
I never watch videos that people put up on threads like that one but for some reason I thought that it was time for me to make a change and that I should start to improve myself and begin to learn something from all the knowledgeable people that congregate here. So I watched that video... or a few minutes of it, sadly it was so fucking boring I had to give up. At first I was thinking "Why is this video being shared here, what am i expected to learn?" and then after a while I thought "Why is he talking? Why are they listening? What is the point of this video at all?" and then I thought "Why am I watching?" and then I wasn't.
if you dont think an hour long lecture about the growth of asset manager capitalism, its relation to the 08 financial crisis and its implications for macro prudential policy isnt exciting then I dont know what to say man I really dont

It's stupid that we're still burning gas to generate electricity. We've had decades in which we could have been ramping renewables and nuclear, and sparing gas for what it's mainly useful for, namely heating and cooking.
