women's football is pretty bad to watch tbf. and i dont like watching women fight. if i was into tennis i would probably happily watch them play tennis though, or volleyball for that matter. i can't imagine there's anything wrong with women's volleyball. you have to take it on a case by case basis. like craner i used to love watching merlene ottey sprint. the cocaine hauteur of her face.
Remember being absolutely infatuated with Merlene Ottey

It's true, I like women's tennis too. I'm not sure what this contributes to the transgender debate, though.
First, I'd dispute calling it a "debate". It's a quote unquote debate in the same sense that the anti-gay campaigns of the 70s (Anita Bryant et al) or Southern attempts to block desegregation and civil rights were "debates". And the strategists coordinating the attack, by + large, don't care about trans people - if you haven't yet, read the NYT piece I linked a couple pages back where they (proudly) admit on their own words that it's just a wedge issue that they focus-group tested to frame as divisively possible to try to open a new front in the culture for totally cynical political reasons.

But directly to your point, it doesn't add anything. Most of the people using woman's sports to attack trans people don't care about women's sports. In fact, many of them are exactly the kind of men's rights/trad/etc types who think women should, yunno, stop playing sports and get back in the kitchen. They are using women's sports as an avenue of attack purely bc they found that women's sports and creating moral hysteria about children (again, echoes of the 70s and the gross claim that gay schoolteachers would recruit and/or molest children) were the most effective talking points.

Having said that, women's sports are just like men's in the sense that they vary from compelling to unwatchable.

In a couple of the sports I follow, cycling and weightlifting, I'd contend the women are at least as entertaining as the men. Women's cycling is usually more chaotic and full of attacking, whereas men's tends to be controlled more by the big powerful teams (tho this has decreased somewhat in recent years with the rise of transcendent individual riders like Pogacar, Van Aert, Van Der Poel, etc). And in weightlifting the women are about equally compelling/entertaining, especially at the lower weight classes whichever favor athleticism more than peak strength.

Also, side note: it's always hilarious to see random men criticizing women's sports when those same men would get absolutely destroyed by the athletes that they're criticizing.

I thought he was one of our pet Danes? Firefinga is Austrian, I think, but he vanished without trace a few years back.

Surely there is some element of that for some people tho it's hard to say how much

There is definitely a thriving of publicly homophobic and/or transphobic dudes out here on the DL. Almost always trying to bottom, too - not that that matters but it's so common that it's basically a stereotype. Think of the vibe Andrew Tate gives off and you're basically there.
