He's quite rare among modern footballers, being able to smack the ball really hard - and with both feet!
He doesn't get the 25m...and Man U should have got 70m+ in normal circumstances.Just seems a weird double-standard, a 25mn transfer to Marseille isn't exactly a punishment. Out of sight out of mind...
They can't punish him properly because in the eyes of the law he's innocent.I know he doesn't, but the point is the "punishment" is a weird kinda fudge. Not banning him from the game but shuffling him off on loan to clubs in other countries. Then selling him for less than he's worth as a footballer. It's like they've decided he's in a kinda half-guilty state - Schrodinger's Woman-Beater - and then visited on him (and themselves really) half a chastisement.
Maybe they're not legally entitled to fire him. The manner of his moving does not reflect judgement beyond the court of public opinion, which made him a poisoned chalice for British clubs and the low price is due to reduced competition.Well it's clearly not a matter of the law. Anyway, as things shake out Greenwood could well go on to have an amazing career, or at least effectively the same career he would have had. Marseille have done well it seems by taking a punt on a "damaged goods" type talent. United lose out but then any investment in a young player is a risk - they could easily get injured or lose focus or just turn out to be shit - so... I dunno, it just feels like sort of hypocrisy, shuffling him off and selling him for less than he's worth to show that they think it's bad to (allegedly) hit women - but not just releasing him from his contract cos obviously it's not so bad they don't want the millions.
There's no sense of Ten Hag building anything in particular so, instead of giving him time, why not dole out that time to 3 or 4 managers until someone looks really good? The malaise seems to run deeper than the manager, we know that Ten Hag can be a good, successful coach from his time at Ajax. Why then has he had the worst results for United in living memory?
With SAF he was allowed time to fail and finally succeed, short-termism means that is no longer the case.
Just replacing him with no strategy in place won't work.

For me the worst thing is the goal drought. United are known for swashbuckling attacking play (get rid of Rashford) and quality strikers - they're losing the brand and the youngsters have no idea why they're this famous club.
Man Utd should aim at being an entertaining team loitering around the top 5, bringing through exciting youngsters, signing charismatic foreigners, and winning the odd cup. Forget Ferguson, they should be aiming for Ron Atkinson. Man U fans were happy back then.Don't get me wrong, TH has been shit. I don't think he'll come good. Though if you dole out a bit of time to three or four managers I doubt that any of them will come good either. I think you have to look more at why TH has been so shit despite succeeding elsewhere, why was Van Gaal shit, even why was Morinho shit? Work that out, then try and come up with a strategy to address that problem and then target a coach best suited to that strategy.
Cos what I don't get is why players who did well elsewhere such as Sancho suddenly stop delivering at United. We hardly saw him play did we?
Hmm, i'd prefer a wore such as myth or legacy rather than brand but I take your point.
Of late, United have been linked with Juventus man Cabal, who only joined them this summer, and has played three games for his new side.
Having cost in the region of £10million, it’s said the defender – who can play as a centre-back as well as a left-back – would command a fee of £25million.
El Nacional suggests Ten Hag is willing to pay that in order to get Cabal through the door.
In fact, it’s said he has ‘ordered’ United to do so, having ‘become obsessed’ with the defender.
