He's the grown-up (well, sort of) version of the most maladjusted boy we all knew at school. The one who got picked on for being incredibly weird, but who didn't even have the protection of one or two of the more well-meaning kids who might try and stick up for someone like that, because he'd also unpredictably go nuts and hit someone even when they were being nice to him.
