id love to hear 'get me' in the new blade runner soundtrack.

why blade runner though? seems a strange choice.

and i think plastician could maybe do better with this than terror. terror, much as i love him, can be quite samey. not really flexible enough. who knows though. im def going.

Yeah, Terrah basically does a couple of killer tracks every now and then. He's a great producer, but not a particularly prolific auteur, to my mind.

he has a recognisable sound/sonic tics that he reuses and a very distinctive 'sound' - ie his actual engineering or maybe just the way he mixes his beats - so you could say he is an ateur in that respect. but ive never been 100% sure where self-derivation/copying/'signature sound' ends and auteurism begins.

this looks wicked. If you're a producer you know how hard what terrah does is, his shit is fucking ill. Not that he doesn't have flaws but the unique, detailed, futuristic vividness of what he does make me forgive all the self-similarities, undanceable bits, poor choices in vocalists etc.

Seriously, history will look back on Terrah and be like 'wow'.

Truly curious about how he'll respond to Blade Runner. Terrah Vangelis?

And you might be thinking of Jeff Mills re-scoring Metropolis as far as precedents.

never saw the jeff mills thing but would have liked to.

i wonder if terror will rejig the original score...

so maybe this is why he chose blade-runner

i think this will be a surprising performance - i dont think terror will just play old material - he'll blatantly have watched the film with new riffs and things in mind, it wont just be an aftershock album played to blade runner, at least i hope not

it could be massive for him if he does something special

Anyway, Tactics, do you really like Stryder's album? I think it's absolutely dreadful with it's hiphop beats and cheesy TV theme brass.

I wasn't going to mention it as I'm not trying to hate on it, but there are two tracks on his myspace at the moment, Sorry U and Full Effect, which are terrific straight up grime tracks! Why the hell are they not on there? So, so, so frustrating.

you are not hating, you are being honest and i agree completely. There is 1 grime track on it think from what i can remember. Rapid makes big beats, where were they for this??

when we people learn, if they want murder inc hip hop, they will go get that. Grime people do grime. I wanna screw up my face and make erratic movements when i hear it, not try and hug up a girl from the closest youth club

ARGHHHHHHHHHH!

Logan, Stryder could release a skiffle track and you'd say it's grime.

He's always been shit in my opinion.

that remix is v good. jokers more of a dubstep artist though isnt he? the fact plastician has signed him (or am i geting my wires crossed) just makes it more clear that plastic is making the jump to dubstep more complete though.

apparently bossman is a funky house dj now (according to a post on rwd, didnt read the full thing though so could be wrong) so let the ship jumping continue!

three things:

*tinchy's album IS good. there are a lot of pop-friendly hooks in there, but it IS grime, not hiphop. i can't remember much more than this cos i leant my copy to a friend and he lost it.

*joker refused to say whether he made grime or dubstep when melissa b interviewed him. he did musicians' equivalent of 'taking the fifth': 'i just make good music with basslines'

*young.dot's mixtape (free from his myspace) is heavy, can't believe i slept on this for so long!! just the raw, consistently-produced, gully-but-quality album i needed to hear after a week in which i've been mourning bossman's defection a lot.

When is this dropping? No-one in the record shops seems to know...

joker might SAY he makes grime but his stuff is more like dubstep to me, just with a (merciful) grime-y 'attack' on top. its not purposely 'dead' or super-restrained like a lot of dubstep but stylistically, the ep of his i have made me think of dubstep more than grime. not much of grimes energy there really. i dont even think hes in the middle like a lot of plastics stuff - hes obviously using dubstep as the template, not grime.
