i keep seeing this sort of women's oxford shoes with very high wide heels on them and i don't know if they're hideous or kind of ingenious:

The concept does sound horrendous. Though I do have a friend who has a pair of shoes which are similar to those, with an enormous heel and platform, and they are absolutely stunning. She can't walk very far in them, obviously, but surely minor technicalities like that don't matter when they look so good?!

i don't like those heels at all. they look too retro/fetish predictable like the girl wearing them would be hanging out with rockabilly guys with greasy big hair.

far as denim concerned, my current favorite pair are Tavernitis. i usually go for simple and minimal but these have some sick detailing (just a touch Blade) and fit SO damn well.

pocket looks more or less like first and fits like second (but less boot-ish):

Suits: so many inconsequential choices. What to go for?

And on a practical, where to get an adequate one for not too much money on a UK high street (or anywhere random in london).

M&S Autograph range is alright.

Actually top shop was also alright last time I was brave enough to venture in there.

Yeah, they do look pretty adequate. M&S in sensibly priced functionally 'classic' clothing shocker!

The whole rigmarole does seem to have an impressive array of inconsequential decisions though - do I want single or double breasted? Plain or striped or pin striped? One, two or three buttons, and how high should the buttons be? Peaked or notched lapels? One, two or no vents at the back? What shade of black to go for? Which shirt? Which tie? All, essentially, to produce the response "yes, this is indeed a man in a suit."

Not seen this thread before. Ive worn more or less the same for an what seems an age.

4 pairs of 501s in various stages of distress, white addidas superstars for summer, black nike 95 for winter. Some really old timberlands which have finally given up. Ill probably replace then with the same boot. Black/white/grey T's. Shirts have to be long sleeve. Various coats. Mmmm maybe time for change.

For suits i go to Next or M&S cos they do trousers in a short leg and fast waist combo : )

Yeah I really can't be arsed with it all, but it does feel nice to put on a good suit I think.

I am so hopeless with clothes shopping that I usually take a posse with me. On occasions this has involved my partner, daughter, sister, her boyfriend and Paul Meme.

If left to my own devices I will give up and go and buy records instead.

Yeah, and having said all that I spent approx 4 hours in M&S Marble Arch on wednesday trying to find a suit I liked. And I still don't have a shirt that really works with it.

It is stush as though.

And yeah, the idea of saccing it off and going record shopping occurred more than once, but you can't go to a job interview wearing a bunch of vinyl. At least (before Tea says it) not the sort of job that I'm looking for.
