sort of, but the "M" series of chips are great - the tensor flow folks just need to sort their shit out and provide 'apple silicon' support and the Nvidia monopoly will be broken

if only they concentrated on being an integrated computing company rather than an aspirational lifestyle brand

full disclosure: I'm not an apple fanboy, I've a lot to say about how they are evil ( garden of eden nonsense, etc )

but

if they name a series of chips after one of the greatest runs of 12" records then..I'll throw them some slack

they are up to "M4", their new chip was announced the other day

when I worked on a ISP support desk in the late 90s we used to fucking hate it when an iMac owner phoned up because:

1: they had chosen their computer on the criteria of "did it match their curtains"

and

2: the TCP/IP stack on Mac OS 9.2 was shite

and

3: ( related to 1 ) - the users were universally clueless

edit: I did get a few offers of overnight hospitality, mainly from our regular callers man69@******.*** and the great-grandson of the founder of a paramilitary youth organisation for boys, all of which I gently declined

I only heard rumours and gossip but apparently even as recently as 2012 certain UK telecoms companies were organising jollies in Las Vegas featuring "exclusive" personal performances by a meth ridden Britney and coach trips to "ranches" in the Nevada desert

apparently, I was not there, the Sister Sledge, contracted for 45 minutes, allegedly the performance was "amazing" for all the wrong reasons - they did 3 songs - I can guess name two, can you name all 3? They stretched out "Lost in Music" for 30 minutes,"and on the bass!", and then they did "We are Family" even though her sisters were not all "there with me", and ... what is the third "hit"? I'm at a loss even still I have rehearsed the answer and I know Niles is a god, etc

but now apple is my "daily driver" - I'm typing this on a stolen iMac

nowadays Mac OS is BSD with a nice frontend, so you are getting POSIX compliment UNIX with ease of use AND "it just works"
