gift to myself this winter was a pair of teal suede boots by Sisley. TEAL! my favorite color!

couldn't find a picture but kind of the male version of this but without the decorative bits - totally minimal:

does anyone know the best way to wash woolen clothes in a washing machine?

If the label says it's OK, wash them on the gentlest cycle with Lux flakes (or whatever they call soap flakes these days). Make sure you dissolve the flakes in some warm water before you add them to the machine.

If you've got the time, your woolen clothes will last much longer if they're hand-washed in lukewarm water (again with soap flakes) and dried flat, out of the sun.

From the description of these shoes I'm imagining zhao looking like a model from a '70s cologne advert, all cheesy suave and excessive chest-hair. :)

I don't know how, but suede is the material of the season. Even Vans are doing suede boots now (and very nice ones too).

wool/washing machine

Some better washing machines have special programs for delicates (cold water, low spin freq). That's OK for cheap wool, though I recommend using dedicated detergent for wool.

I wash all my nice woolen clothes by hand. Highly recommended. And do not hang them for drying, put them horizontally on a towel for a while.

Some nice tunes there! Do you play out in London?

These I really love. I have a pair of Miu Miu rain boots that look similar, except with a heel and in army green. I got them brand new on eBay for like 1/5 of retail.

Also, I just noticed I misspelled stiletto three times in this thread.

guess i'm going to have to go down the hand washing route, which is somewhat problematic due to having eczcema on my hands.

thanks. other than spinning italo disco sets here in cambridge i haven't played out for a few years now. i should probably make this a new years resolution. :slanted:

not quite as slick as the $1,100 boots i posted on the previous page, but i love them. only thing is lack of traction, can be a bit of bother walking on slippery surfaces... but also fun: i'm the grown ass man sliding across alexanderplatz like a 5 year old...

I guess it's only a short step from cologne-advert-model to male escort.

i'm not ashamed of what i do. wealthy and slighty mingy (thanks dissensus for my ever expanding vocabulary) middle aged house wives need love (or next best thing) too!

You don't have to do much in the way of washing usually, just get some of the detergent into the fabric, and some gentle rubbing. You could easily wear rubber gloves for this.

Maaan! Italo is ace! Quite popular around Shoreditch these days. Should not be too hard getting gigs for you then -- as long as you don't mind not being paid! ;)

i don't mind not getting paid in some circumstances, but at least the sound system should be bumping and so long as i don't have to support a nu-metal band or something.

god yes they're fabulous! I would like the ladyversion - where did they come from?

the sisley shop right around the corner. kind of surprised as i'm not a big fan of sisley. after shopping the entire afternoon with no luck - the deal was sealed almost soon as i saw them. you can probably find them where you are. not the same line or label (don't remember exactly where it came from) but it's kind of the girl version on the last page. do you like those?

i wouldn't mind having the same teal suede everything... gloves, kangol, jacket, belt, wallet...

i am such a skinny white boy that i went into marks and spencers to buy a pair of smart trousers and they didnt go down to my waist size. outraged.
Ha ha, I quite like the way it makes you feel thin for not having a 40" waist tbh...

I ended up with one of these, albeit with a different shirt / tie.

Now I just have to remember that I can't justify spending 600 quid on a classic style crombie to wear over the top, stush though it would be.

that "3 buttons is 90s" crap is for the birds. you can also say "60s, 40s, 20s, for ever". i generally don't do 2 or 1 button. have only seen a couple of 4 buttons and i want one :)
Tbh I took the view that 1 2 and 3 buttons all look inherently reasonable and I'd rather go with the suit that works on me than the one that's "very now, dahlink..."

I would picture Michael Jordan wearing a 4 button jacket, wouldn't you? Or maybe a drug dealer at a hearing.

You're right those boots don't really look like Sisley but they're nice.
