    PappaWheelie

Hooray for Pappawheelie: http://www.stylusmagazine.com/articles/weekly_article/miami-bass-the-primer.htm (One of the other great unofficial comps on Slsk is that 'Arthur on the Floor' one with all the best of Arthur Russell's disco productions.)

    'erotic' cinema?

Bilitis, as mentioned above, is co-written by Catherine Breillat which always seems slightly odd. Or maybe not. Obv. Tinto Brass is the best erotic director ever.

    richie hawtin CD @ Mixmag

The CDs have actually been pretty good recently. I've been pleasantly surprised. The mag is still read it in ten minutes fodder though, even if the actual quality of stuff that they review and write about is better than even a year back.

PRETTY THINGS - 'Don't bring me down under' book

I'd like to but I've not read this. I know that John Baker did a hell of a lot of work for it though, including tracking down Viv Prince to the middle of nowhere (and taking Jack White with him!)

    konono no.1 in london?!?!?

Yeah, he should either put on a free show or not. And possibly not charge £4.50 for a small bottle of (American) Budweiser. Not many people were drinking later either bcz it was too crowded to move around much. He must've been fuming.

Cheap Dancehall CDs in Oxford Street

I was in the Virgin opposite Tottenham Court Road tube on Oxford Street today and in the £3.99 sale bit of the dance section at the back they had multiple copies of about ten different titles in the Greensleeves Rhythm Album series. I'm sure that this info may be of use to some Dissensian.

    konono no.1 in london?!?!?

You can't really get in the flow with ten mins of Konono. Most of their songs are longer than that.

    ilXor.com

"Which Barenaked Ladies looks the most retarded on this album cover?" = some of the best web music writing ever, for sure. http://ilx.wh3rd.net/thread.php?msgid=6198907

    ilXor.com

Some of the best web music writing ever is in ILM. Bcz of the sheer amount of posting there is a bunch of daftness and idling away of the day as well though. I got Frank Kogan's book of music writing "Real Punks Don't Wear Black" today and on the back it lists places where his music writing...

They were playing Momo's Bar today (5th) but you mised 'em. I just got back. Dunno about the 6th. Nothing on the Crammed website.

    Death Jam 01 Mix

As one or two people here enjoyed this the second part of this mix, one of whom emailed me asking for part one here it is: Death Jam 01 - The Little Black Cloud That Cried Mark Lindsay - Lone Wolf's Theme Gay Shingleton - In My Time of Sorrow Bloc Party - Shes Hearing Voices (Erol Alkan Dub)...

seeing grime live is almost always disappointing

This sounds like an exciting Grime show: A TEENAGER was knifed in the back at a rapper's after-show party in Liverpool. The 17-year-old local youth is seriously ill after the attack at the Bar and Grill in Bold Street during a party for gangsta rapper Lethal Bizzle. Another 17-year-old and an...

    the long blondes

Nathan Fake LP is kinda like he's trying to get the same effect as those singles but using IDM sounds instead of trance sounds--definitely home listening. I like it but I haven't home-listened enough to really work out how much. I think the Long Blondes singles downplay their earlier post punk...

    the long blondes

Ok, here's what I wrote in 2003: As soon as I saw the The Long Blondes standing in the corner of the venue, discreetly crying out for attention, I knew that they they had ‘it’, that je ne sai quoi, that special something that marks people out. As assholes. Plainly they were preeners and...

    the long blondes

The NME is now classed as a 'mens lifestyle' mag rather'n a music one in any business planning by it's publishers which is a pretty clear idea what is going on with it. "But yeah, the long blondes do seem to be harking back to a much more recent time- the sound of the mid to late 90s for...
