    Record storage options

It's interesting that each of those collapses was apparently caused by turning a big Expedit on its side, given how many people have suggested to me that turning smaller (one-column) Expedits on their sides and stacking them would create a more durable solution. Hmmm...

    Record storage options

I think it would be okay for the records themselves but might dent the covers a bit, maybe. I also think there might be potential for putting shelves on those bars as they're designed to accommodate record boxes as well as just records.

Anti-Expedit rant here: http://thevinylanachronist.blogspot.ca/2012/10/a-blog-i-wrote-some-time-ago-which-you.html Sounds like a bit of a cranky-pants though, doesn't he? For what it's worth, I'm currently using discontinued Lack shelves, which seem much sturdier but don't use the space as...

    What's your favourite album ever?

Anyone here who's heard my music will not have been surprised to see Endless Summer and 94 Diskont on my list. I should probably be a bit more mysterious about this stuff. Amazing how often Funhouse is coming up. Obviously, it's a great album but...

    What's your favourite album ever?

Back in Feb 2010, I tried to compile my top ten albums of all time. The list would probably be a bit different now but I think the top four would be the same. 1. My Bloody Valentine – Loveless 2. The Fall – The Wonderful & Frightening World of The Fall 3. Scott Walker – Tilt 4. Fennesz –...

    Raspberry Pi/Arduino ?

The other thing I would love to do with this stuff and Max/MSP would be building hardware instruments/guitar pedals that did crazy granular synthesis and randomly modulated shit. Not sure if that's possible. I know there are people building MIDI controllers for Max patches, though. Shit, I wish...

'what type of music do you like?'

I used to say "electronic music" until I found out people assumed I meant "Skrillex". Maybe I should start saying "indie rock"? I have a friend who claims he always says he doesn't like music. He justifies this by saying it's statistically true - he hates about 95% of the music he hears, so if...

    Raspberry Pi/Arduino ?

If I wasn't so cack-handed, I think it might be possible to use this stuff to make the MIDI controller of my dreams. As it is, I build Max patches to mirror my controller. But if it could be the other way around...

    Fuzzzz!

There's a really great quote from one of the Dead C guys, where he says something along the lines of: "We're not lo-fi - those are good fidelity recordings of an incredibly crappy sound." If you want totally blown-out Japanese fuzz rock, surely High Rise is the place to go:

    Fuzzzz!

Of course, I'm bound to say that the finest fuzz of this particular year has come from My Bloody Valentine. Seriously, m b v is a very (specifically) fuzzy album, with an incredibly warm, deep and rich sound, which still retains enough physicality to let you know the sound is coming from a...

    Fuzzzz!

Ty Segall - who we've discussed elsewhere - has a new band that's actually called Fuzz. They sound a lot like Blue Cheer or The Groundhogs. My special lady just went on a road trip to see them play. Sidebar: Ty actually plays drums in this band and if anyone is looking for fresh 70s rock-style...
