    "10,00 Drug Crazed Youths" - 2007 style

Yeah right? when did anyone put on nice legal rave :( nearly impossible once you've pleased the council and pigs and their interpretation of the licensing act. The Glade festival ,which is huge, struggles harder & harder each year. There's no obvious connection with hoxton Nu-rave and the...

Soul Jazz Presents Rumble In The Jungle

I don't think Jungle ever really went away, maybe it did a bit in '98/99 but what with the breakcore mashups and general retro rave atmosphere it seems to be ever present. The problem with Jungle is not the music itself but the fact that the 'Amen' sample has been chewed on so much that I for...

    Scott on TV

Not knowing alot about the bard I was intrigued. Yes you could cut out some the fillin celebs but it was worth hearing Marc Almond dismaying at his later stuff:p You had to have Eno & Bowie there as they were at one point very near to his world. I thought the insights into the recording...

    Seven Ages of Rock

agree with alot of the above, it was great to see alot of that footage especially the Hendrix moments. What annoyed me was how UK centric it was. It was as if the west-coast scene didn't exist? no mention of the Grateful Dead for example.

    Dodgy Pubs

There was a thread like this a few years ago on another well known bulletin board. It was so good that you learnt more about London in those few pages than any guide book would tell you ;) dodgy pubs ? I always find it amusing that pubs take years to throw off their bad image after a couple...

    London's margin clubs

I agree entirely, how about chatin about the ones that have since closed :) Anyone remember the Greenleaf on Landor Rd SW9 , takeaway place that if u decided (or knew) to go to the toilet led in to a dark alley with a little dance room about the size of a small bedroom, a rig up to the...

    crappest party you've ever attended

cracking thread, i always think 'worst' type ideas are great for exploring the real extraordinariness of human existence and what others class as 'fun.' Perhaps the worse one I went to was in Norwich, this secondary school teacher in his late 20s had invited his class to what was a cosy little...

budget studio monitors - any recommendations?

i'd agree about the dynaudio ones, if you must go for powered then perhaps the Tannoy ones would do, i'd avoid Alesis , they don't stand up nearly as well. With all these things it's what works well in your room. That may not be the best or most expensive.

    Virginia Gun Massacre

Couldn't agree more. I find this a media problem rather than a US gun problem, they live with their laws and ain't gonna change, but why all the media coverage. Nothing is going to change , why are US lives so worthy of blanket coverage? Given the death toll in Iraq today and the countless...

    Pan Sonic

I saw them live in the bowls of the good ship 'Stubnitz' as part of the Version festival back in '05, really excellent. They understand the notion of live electronics in a way that Autechre spectularly don't. The audience are really locked into something and there's a physicality to the...

rough trade to open UK's biggest record shop

It's a risk for sure but if you've ever milled about brick lane recently you'll know it's where everyone is at. It's been going on for a while but there's a huge cultural shift away from the westend & W11 where rents have escalated. It seems that every savy tourist and hipster is ther in some...
