*sighs*
'The Claw Is My Master' sample from Toy Story was originally used on the Eskimo "Devil Mix". It was sampled in the studio from a rubber toy they had laying around and were playing with. It also features Wiley saying "Eskimo" and "Roll Deep" played backwards over the intro.
Skepta made...
Gangsterz and Eskiboy are available on vinyl from all good record shops. And if your local store doesnt have either of them tell them to email me on the address below and I shall remedy the situation for them.
Grime = UK Culture. Only people who want to buy into UK Culture will care about it, so probably no, it won't get massive in the US. But it might have 1 or 2 crossover artists or tracks.
I mention El B because his woodblock snare and wobbley bass style was basically how I heard all Dubstep tunes sounding in like 2004.
To my uneducated ears pretty much everything played at FWD or from the Croydon lot around that time sounded like it could have been on Ghost from 2001.
I never hear those guys mentioned in articles or interviews with Dubstep/FWD people.
I don't really see much of the roots of Dubstep mentioned in many pieces in the media in general.
All things going to plan, I should have 2 records back from the pressing plant today:
Wiley - Gangsterz (Vocal & Instrumental)
and the "Rubble EP" from a young producer called Ripperman whos music I have been supporting for a while.
I uploaded a little preview zip file if anyone wants to...
Tinchy's CD will be out very soon.
JME's Boy Better Know: Poomplex Edition 2 is on the horizon too
MC Narstie "I'm Better Than You" CD is worth checking out as well. I rate his MCing and there's some big P jam beats on there.
Duppy vocal = a club tune.
Not a "listen to through your white in-ear headfones on your iPod while typing up your blog" tune. ;)
And it got 3 reloads at Eskimo Dance, so it did it's job.
Roll Deep have been indefinitely suspended from their Sunday show. They have not technically been kicked...
Rinse FM runs at a loss.
And there are no weapons or stolen equipment ANYWHERE around the station studio or broadcast site.
The people who run Rinse do so because they love music and want to have a platform to promote what they want to hear without having to pander to middle of the road tastes...
