VICE magazine's G. MacInnes in The American Conservative

What scares me about Vice is the utter nonsense written in it about people of a socio-economic under class which borders on minstrelesque. I don't really mind if people with more money than sense want to smoke crack in their soho apartments.

    etymology of "grime"

EZ didn't use it in a derogatory fashion, no. He was still playing a lot of the new beats on dub then. I am sure MJL was being tongue in cheek. And it had nothing to do with the Nore or Dillinja tunes, or even the So Solid tune of the same name.

    etymology of "grime"

Matt Jam Lamont and EZ started calling the beats "Grimey" on EZ's show on kiss. And grimey became a regularily used word to describe the music. And that black stuff u get under ur nails is prevalent on most decks and mixers and microphones in every pirate radio studio or basement recording...

GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

Yes, there is nothing wrong with the name Grime as it accurately describes where the music comes from and is performed. Being "Dirty" doesn't have to be a derogatory term if you don't want it to be. And yes, they do master to CD.

next grime mc to get a deal?

Independant releases are the way forward, because sadly we have seen that unless you fall into the boyband mould of marketing, UK A&Rs have no idea how to deal with anyone who makes Grime. They have had years and years of releasing US Hip Hop yes, but the US acts have had years of marketing and...
