GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

rough trade have never really supported grime, or r and b unless its 30 years old, they never supported garage etc unless it's the kinda fashionable white kid kind of nowdays , saying that they got behind dubstep early, they deal with techno and experimental electronics and all that blog music...

well a large number of people bought it obviously, and it's a pretty radical track for the top 20 - people spent money on that.

i'm in a fine mood, anyway - if you're going down the history always favours the winners route, something like robert miles chidren is an ascendant of the line that goes belgian hardcore / dutch pop hardcore > hard trance > eurotrance it's just the story of this place and a current vogue.

Sales figures for the Pitchfork top 50 for 2010

Yes you're right there, i'm not really sure how the chain shops and the majors work together, but like most of their business, i'm sure it's not healthy actually or any other way. There must be a situation where these things are eventually returned and probably destroyed too though, I dunno...

Sales figures for the Pitchfork top 50 for 2010

Yes so would I - more like 20 / 30 times. those cmyk sales are really good for a 12" in the US.

Sales figures for the Pitchfork top 50 for 2010

not that far, at all, as the people that shop there are more interested in a wider range of things, and they sell a wider range of things too, but they should steal ideas from all over the place, rough trade being one of them, but i think they should be aware they can exploit a miriad of...

Sales figures for the Pitchfork top 50 for 2010

well that's part of the problem as they're selling off that stock at cost cos they overstocked in the last 6 months, which shows you they support good music, the problem is also independent new albums stocked at £14 of course, as they're cheaper in amazon and play - who incidentally don't pay...

ok, i don't think you've come across intentionally like that, and also if you feel that way then that's not my problem, and i've made the case too, not that there is a case to make it's just not in the thread. To enter a discussion you have to enter a thread and i put forward some examples which...

    hardcore classics

its a bit of a poor thread it's called hardcore classics and has no belgian stuff in it basically, ie probably the most dominant and successful music in early hardcore and also pretty much the inventors of the sound along with the dutch. I know it doesn't fit into this comfy linear idea that...

Sales figures for the Pitchfork top 50 for 2010

Yes thats true, it's not a good thing that hmv is doing badly, esp if you consider the companies online like amazon etc, who don't pay any vat cos they work offshore, and have terrible employment practices, they've no interest in music perse just unit costs.

soundscan is US only yes, but its the biggest territory potentially, also not sure whether all shops are soundscan too, much like alot of indie shops in the uk don't report chart figs.

well I don't totally agree as dance listening trends aren't really a linear thing, ravers in scotland would listen to pretty different things to london etc - hence the outcome at the end of rave being lots of happy hardcore up there, and gabber in cornwall for example, rather than jungle, which...
