really? I didnt find anything exciting about that release whatsoever, just usual boom kisssh dubstep??
Maybe she's had 2, the one i'm talking about was really slow DEEP house
I don't think Blawan merges Dubstep & Funky, I don't see his tunes as having any connection to UK Funky the genre. They just are damn funky (in the old sense of the word) He seems to have closer links to Techno if anything.
a lot of the criticism in this thread re beat programming, groove etc seems to come from a very musicianly angle, whereas if I was going to moan about anything it's that the whole thing needs a bit more cheap ruffneck minimalism. We all seem to have gone a bit rare groove.
That wasn't my intention at all, when I talk about groove and beat programming i'm talking about a feeling, i'm talking about tunes that you can't help wiggling your arse and twitching your shoulders to.
Nothing to do with rare groove or overt musicianlyness (if that's a word)
The rawest Grime can do this just as well as a polished House tune.
Cheap ruffneck minimalism is often the most funky (very difficult to use this word now) as it's not over-thought it's felt.
Let's face it, house music people hate garage music. They always have and always will.
I'm sure you're probably joking a bit here, but this is silly. I love House and I love Garage, as i'm sure lots of the people posting here do, it's all the same thing really.
@the entire thread, people need to take all this negative gas, & use it positively to make beats they rate...
Working on that as well of course (when time permits) and I acknowledge the fact that it's really really hard to do well. Doesn't mean that I want to listen to other people doing it badly though I can listen to my own tunes for that

Also doesn't mean I can't voice my frustrations as well as my praise. Thought out negative criticism is just as important as hypeing things that you love, and it's done out of a love for amazing music.
As a label owner, producer, dj and journalist you're putting yourself (and your musical preferences) on a pedestal. It's a two-way street, if you're recieving attention for your musical tastes you have to expect that sometimes people are going to take you to task over your selections.
If you want everyone to be positive and in agreement maybe you should be posting on a forum called Conssensus?
Coming back to your show I was listening to the Zomby mini mix and Eski mix on the plane last night.
So good! At lot of the synth stuff in this thread is clearly taking it's cues from Zomby but those mixes were a reminder of what a different league he's in.
Come back Zomby we need you! (even if you are a negative arsehole on forums

)
