this commentators are talking such utter guff about goal difference. there is absolutely no chance spain are going out on goal difference if they win 2-0 unless spain lose to chile and swiss lose to honduras.

presumably if that happens spain will go out anyway on head-to-head? just assuming, since I haven't looked at how these things are worked out this year

oh yeah forgot about that. in that case there is absolutely no way spain will go out on goal difference as they will DEFINITELY have a better goal difference than chile

edit: totally wrong - it goes on gd first

well it's GD first if that's what you mean Cracker.

Ah, right. Good, never liked the head-to-head thing cos it just produces too many dead games.

Just watching Fabio's interview.

re EBJT:he made a big, big mistake. He's lucky Rio ain't fit or he could be out judging by that

"there is no revolution; it's about the mistake of one player, no more"

spain: so much possession in the final third and only two goals? still not convinced this is a world cup winning team.

maybe i'm just pissed off because villa missing that penalty cost me 7 points on the fifa fantasy football league. shithead.

rip this joint please
have you got a link for this Capello interview video Cracker?

ta.

toward the end i was getting a bit incredulous at how Spain wanted to seem to walk it in. *

Group A deciders on the morrow, bring it on!
(i may do sex-wees if Forlan has another good game.)

i got an epic moan off a fantasy league playing mate the other day because FIFA decreed a certain Argentina goal recently wasn't a Messi assist :D

* hmm. can i perhaps rephrase this to not sound a churlish tool?!

i was pissed off that van persie's cross that a dane headed in was not credited as an assist.

Darned cockwombles.
i really dont want to see switzerland go through. their second round match will be torture.

Nope - if they get through, it's likely to be in second place, and they'll get smacked by Brazil. Brazil are one team who won't let Switzerland's tactics faze them. They'lll keep 80 per cent of the ball, and use it well. Which is why they'll probably win the WC.

Yeah, so it's Spain and Honduras wins that would be ideal. It's unfortunate however that anti football can be extremely successful if it's done well. I can see Spain or Chile going out.. :(

i'm really afraid to say this, but i've lost belief in england. i really cannot see them winning at all on wednesday.

i looked back at the stats from our friendly against them in sept 2009. we absolutely battered them. we were 'lucky' according to the match report, but we had 20 chances to their 3. but i still can't bring myself to believe.

they only have robert koren who has played in the premiership, but i can't see it happening. there's no cohesion in the team.

four group matches a day for the next four days, then four days of R2 matches.

get in!

spending the second round in Italy for a wedding. If England top their group (big ha) the match clashes with the evening do :(

Desperately want Italy to come 2nd in theirs so I can see their 2nd round game properly in an Italian bar on Monday instead of at the airport on Tues.

I think they'll do it, but it'll be a very nervy Egypt 1990 rather than stylish Poland 86 job. Have a sneaky Crouchigol might be our boy.

The French are really showing us up for ineptitude. Even the sports minister weighing in.

"You have tarnished France's image, I told them [the players]. For your kids, our children, you may no longer be heroes. Give it all you have, fight for it, I told them, and I could see in their eyes that they wanted to do that."

I have no faith that they will do it only an understanding that they should do it.

However, Upson at the back? Has he really had a better season than Dawson? Like many here I would like to see a change but cannot necessarily see Joe Cole being the solution - i'd rather see them use the pace of Johnson and A.Cole to create overlaps and movement/width for players like Lennon to exploit.

Whilst it is fun to watch the French fall apart I don't think slapping down JT at this stage really helps. I think Fabio will stick two fingers up at all the critics and play Heskey again. The bloke makes like for like subs and is not in the habit of changing his mind - I don't believe I am typing this but they should have brought Darren Bent.
