I'm going to the Black Butter party on Saturday, mainly to see EZ, Woz & Gorgon City but interested to hear what Justin Martin's like, not really feeling his tunes.

Any one else catch gorgon city on roskas show? Pretty good

This post should probably be in the house & bass thread, oh well

Well into this stuff recently, Gorgon City are great you got a link to that show? I've got a mix of Black Butter-style pop house to put up later today.

That Renegade Master track is HEAVY. I would love to hear that on a proper system...

Also had never heard the original, which led me to this:

God, you lot make me feel like a pensioner

I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing anything very interesting in '92...

------

Sweet, hard, naughty, sensual, slightly violent, loud, animalistic, intense pornosex into your earholes ha ♥

download this dirty deep mixture of sounds for the sunny weekend ahead. insomnia goin in harddd at Mission Club in leeds this Sat! 3rd Bday celebration, artful dodger, all the sic clique and more live...
...

Actually sounds fairly tame from my skim listen, but I'll give it a more proper go over.
I do love this Super Shady track though:

Love the insanely uncool Eminem sample :D

Also feeling this new iLL Phill & Loz:

Nice bouncy bassline saves the vocal

That moment when you click post then quickly uncheck auto parse box in vain hope

Reasons to be cheerful:

Loz and Drapes dropped this today and it's fucking great. This is my anthem at the moment, love the druggy/bouncy vibe they've snuck under the vocal. It transposes her from the angry and heartbroken ex of the original, to that girl in the club on a self-destructive tip, not giving a fuck. When the original tune drops during the break, it brings the (bitter) sweetness back, but for me it's punctuated by the dread of knowing her world will come imploding back in, the reverbed white noise echoing the claustrophobia of it all. :p

Was almost surprised to see it as a freebie then I realised Loz has an increasingly public profile and the tune shamelessly tears a piece from a pop-track and stitches smack bang in the middle.

Also this:

BANGER.

This:

VIBEY BANGER

And this:

BANGY VIBEY STEPPERRR

Finally:

DARKCYDE WARPA into STEPPY ROLLER (CHECK THE SECOND DROP)

And did everyone get this haunting ditty?

Totally shoulda sampled the Star Wars laser guns effects for this tho. MISSED A TRICK THERE BRENT.

Faith restored.

2.31 last week was a great listen, no Shorterz, Cause & Affect both suffering the man-flu so hardly any chat, just big bass, and great mixes, a much better flow than normal, I think Kane & Lorenzo just play a set each basically, rather than chopping & changing every few tracks like usual.
This show has much more of a Jackin personality to me, the previous shows were not really sounding that different to all the other Rinse djs who play bassy house imho

go get it!!

It was ok.
They made a fatal mistake in having EZ at 1am just as I came up cos who could possibly follow that?
Best DJ in the UK imho no contest, he just properly works it every time.

Gorgon City were really disappointing, I couldnt dance to it at all, it was all just a bit limp, when I heard them on Roskas show it was a lot tougher so I guess they were just playing all their own tunes or something.
I like their tunes but I just couldnt get with it

Justin Martin was pretty good, played a fair few C&A bits, Kamikaze, Duppy, etc, but it just lacked a certain something as well.
On the surface the Dirtybird stuff has a lot in common with the Jackin stuff but it's just missing that cheekiness that I love about the Midlands/Northern tunes.
Didn't help that the system didn't seem to have much going on below 80hz.

Rudimental was next and that was really weird, we went out for a smoke and it was like coming back to a Radio 1 roadshow or something. The guy on the mike was really shouting about how great they were like he was massively coked up.
Got better when they got to that D&B chart botherer they put out, the gospelly one.
From that they went into proper D&B and then Jungle.
Then it was back to Garagey stuff with Woz who played some good tunes but it was a bit all over the place.

When I listened to the 2.31 show the week after and heard that C&A had played in London on the Friday I wished i'd gone to that instead.
